Jasmyn is still rocking a bit of a coffeehouse sound on these practice reels but I couldn't help but enjoy the earnest playfulness of her songs. A whole lot less twee then Moldy Peaches her lyrics are similarly simple and straight forward. Rat Tail -I'd call her writing a piece of 'ergonomic fiction', it's fitted with the body in mind, the shape and placement of body parts in a comfortable fashion, maximizing ease of movement. I'd call her body a work of 'homophonic friction', she's a tease, drinks teas, wears tees, lisps t's, climbs trees. In the dark sweaty concrete of summer she lives and hoos this song to windows open and blown. Rat Tail formed as an acoustic two piece to perform Jasmyn Burkes solo music after the break up of her former band Hot Monogamy in 2008. After flirting with a few handsome drummers Jasmyn and Ryan went electric with Jesse Mathews in 2009 and have been working on new material and being loud in clubs since then. We have been in lots of other Ontario music projects and bands, too many to name really. We are influenced by Minimal noisy poppy music with pretty vocals.
