Bio
Raven Hill is steadily amassing a loyal fan base and is proving to be one of Houston's newest and hottest bands!
Lead guitarist Matt says his major influences are Jimi Hendrix, Texas' own Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sun House, Indigenous, and Buddy Guy to name a few. Matt has been playing guitar for over 15 years and brings a love for the blues and anything rock to the band.
Bass player Ken has been playing for over 8 years and cites his influences as Blind Melon, all old Metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Savatage and Suicidal Tendencies. His metal background allows the band to put a harder spin on the blues, reshaping it into a new sound that older fans will recognize and love, and new fans will adore.
Raven has been compared to "a cross between Bettie Page and Billie Holiday. With a lug wrench in one hand and an uzi in the other..." She has been singing her entire life, her mom tells stories of her singing herself to sleep as an infant. Raven tried and failed to find a band that could support her one of a kind sound, traveling across the country to do so and finally found the perfect harmony with Raven Hill. Her major influences include Janis Joplin [Raven is also a Port Arthur baby!], Billie Holiday, Etta James, Pat Benatar, Melissa Etheridge, Joan Baez and so many more that there isn't room enough to mention!
Raven Hill prides itself on its unique interpretation of the blues and Texas rock, while still staying true to its foundations. Their set runs through a myriad of musical genres, including blues, folk, rock, funk, and even a little bit of country! They've nicknamed their sound "Alterna Twang Texas Style", and invite you to become a new fan!
