Moe Clark & Alessandra Naccarato come together as Ravensara, taking on the name of Madagascar's most potent medicine.
Spoken word layered over circle singing, instrumental loops and sound art, each performance is an organic improvisation of visceral language sewn into song.
From the politically charged to the sexually candid, the duet balances heavy emotional spaces with raw, comedic banter.
Independently, they are two of Montreal's most acclaimed young spoken word artists. Hailed as one of Montreal's top emerging artists by Nightlife Magazine, Alessandra has toured from New York to Buenos Aires, taken home two bronze medals in the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word and acted as the Artistic Director of Throw Poetry Collective since 2009. She writes love poems to hurricanes, calls Sappho her ex-girlfriend and is mouthy enough that she was named a Noisemaker by the Montreal Mirror in 2007. An ex-zinester, tattooless poet, her writing is a mix of whiskey and honey – unabashed, romantic and raw.
