Bio
The crowd went nuts.
It was my first show in Toronto with Jagged Black Desire at Sneaky Dee's (the ugliest venue we had ever seen - we had not seen the Bovine Sex Club at that point). Before our set the crowd was beginning to disappear to the restaurant downstairs after being warmed up by a noise band, an acoustic duo and a shoegazing bore-you-to-death band. We were disappointed because what started as a good crowd was quickly growing thin.
But when we hit the stage - they noticed.
What set us apart from the other bands was initialy the fact that we didnt look like the crowd - we looked like rock stars. And then we played our first song of the night, our usual opener, "Scream".
Suddenly the venue started looking smaller as the floor was quickly filled, and the crowd screamed for more. Finally they werent bored, finally they weren't looking elsewhere. They were looking at what they needed - us.
I knew I wanted to be a musician by trade. I new I wanted rock stardom. I wasn't there yet, but that night I had a taste of it. That's when I knew that it was possible.
True story.
