My story starts at the supper table, when I was just old enough to almost reach my plate, which is when(according to my mom) I started and never seemed to stop humming. Even while eating. Believe me, the music is STILL churning back and forth through that grey-matter and I doubt it will ever shut-off. I think most musicians have the same problem, or asset... depends on how you look at it.
My influences run the gamut. My first recollections of music are when my Pops was playing "South Pacific" on his cool Hi-Fi, over and over and over again. But it got me interested in classical music, and finding out just how they made all that music. The Beatles struck in 1964, and I can't think of any bigger influence on the music I chose to listen to and eventually to write and perform. The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" still holds up to any other recordings, and will perhaps never be topped for their vocals. Killer good band. Carlos Santana, Clapton, Luther Allison, Shawn Phillips, Robert Cray, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Steve Cropper ... The Rascals, Moody Blues, Savoy Brown, Zepellin, and especially The Allman Brothers Band and Southern Blues? These have all shaped my musical tastes and writing style. There are too many more not on this list, but these are always the first to come to mind.
