Ray Card was born in 1964. He was a member of the Philadelphia pop band Hoi Polloi and played with them from their origins in 1987 to 1989. During his tenure, he both played keyboards and did background vocal work with them. After the release of their self-titled debut album in 1989 Ray left the group for a re-invention of himself in Europe. He eventually found his way to Northern Europe where he focused on his songwriting and later his production skills.

In Horsens, Denmark, 1992 he met independent producer Tommy Hansen while Tommy was finishing up the then next Helloween album, ‘Master of the Rings’ for RCA. Ray was asked by the band and Tommy to guest on that album which was re-released and certified platinum by the RIAA in 2005.

During the years 1992-1999 Ray worked hard at his craft and eventually landed a developmental deal with an independent A&R and management firm owned and operated by Jesper Mardale of Copenhagen, Denmark. Equally through Ray’s persistent hard work and Jesper’s connections and honest encouragement, Ray was able to form a songwriting relationship with SonyATV Publishing. During the years to follow Ray worked, both live and in the studio with some of Denmark’s finest musicians and artists the likes of Billy Cross (Bob Dylan), Claes Antonson (Thomas Helmig), Lars Danielson (Eagle-Eye Cherry), Assi Roer (Thomas Helmig), Engelina Andrina (DJ Encore) and Ashley Mullford (Mike and the Mechanics) to name a few.

This is what Steffen Gilmartin, former Creative Director for Sony/ATV says about Ray’s 2000 promotional release, ‘Mundo’, ‘He’s got a great combination of strong pop structure and lyrics that put an interesting spin on everyday issues.’

‘Your album is in my personal CD holder, not too many CDs make it there’, says Marcy Rauer –Wagman Esq. a Professor and Program Director of Music Industry and Performing Arts disciplines at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA USA.

Since returning to the states in 2000, Ray has been hard at work in the music community, writing performing and developing other artists, he finds himself more in the producer’s chair then under the spot light. With those projects finished Ray has spent some time on himself and his new release, a ten-song cover album.

‘These songs all have their own place in my memory about some special time or a very painful situation’, say’s Ray about his current release, ‘Ray Card Solo Acoustic Vol.1’. A third release is planned for the end of the summer. This will be an album of originals performed solo acoustic. Through his persistent hard work and high standards Ray Card is on his way towards a lasting presents in the American music market place.
