"words of Richard Bennett (Mark Knopfler, Neil Diamond, Waylon Jennings)"

"I'd been hearing about Rayland for a while from friends, Bucky Baxter a long time musician buddy of mine and my son Nick who'd been playing some gigs with Ray. Nick and I were in the car one afternoon and he slid a CD into the player. The first song launched off and the singer began singing. I was taken in immediately with the playing, ease of production, the singer, his words, his melody...the complete package. When the first song was finished I asked who it was. It was my first introduction to Rayland Baxter's music. Every song that followed was as good and better and that's a tall order to fill. I've since gone to see Rayland play live several times and find him and his songs every bit as engaging on stage.

In a world full of music that obnoxiously screams for attention and so often is not very interesting...Ray's music invites you in.

Pull up a sofa and sit down, you'll enjoy the time you spend with Rayland Baxter."

-written by Richard Bennett (Mark Knopfler, Steve Earle, Elton John, Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson) - Richard Bennett

"words of Jim Hoke (Emmylou Harris, Billy Joel, Guster)"

In a town crawling with good songwriters, singers and musicians, it's easy to take for granted, or overlook, true quality. This makes newcomer Rayland Baxter all the more significant. His songs and his presentation of them instantly stand out above the rest. His natural performance style, on vocals and acoustic guitar are perfectly suited to his songs which resonate to the core without histrionics or overdone effort.

-Jim Hoke (Emmylou Harris, Billy Joel, Guster) - Jim Hoke

Bio

My story is...
I am born n raised in Nashville, TN. I am 26. I write songs. I stand by tradition. I enjoy the taste of cold coffee. I drive a '91 Jetta that I bought for $500. Its made of thicker metal than your car, I guarantee.

I grew up watching my father perform with Bob Dylan, Steve Earle and Ryan Adams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucky_Baxter), which in turn are some of my influences. J.J. Cale, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young and Townes Van Zandt are a few. I like Dr. Dog alot as well. They are great. I have spent a lifetime of listening...to everything, and now I am trying to do it myself. I hope my journey as a musician and writer is very long...
