"What a Show"

What a Show
By Author, Gospel Lead: Anthony Silver Thu, Apr 01, 2010
Raymond Silver sets it off at his CD release event. Check out his new album, Use Me. Photos by Justin Adams.

March 6, 2010 started a new trend of local singers and musicians having CD release programs. Raymond Silver released his new CD project in style with a packed house present to witness it.
Arm of the Lord Ministries allowed Raymond to use their facilities to make this event possible. They are located at 2100 Airport Ave. in Fredericksburg, Va. The dining hall seats about 150 to 200 people and there was standing room only!
The original emcee couldn’t make it but his standby emcee did a magnificent job. Raymond’s sister, Barbara Smith stepped up to the plate and kept the program rolling. Minister Jason Lewis kicked things off with a prayer and scripture. Jason then led the opening selection, “Let it Rise.” Great job!
Another one of our local artists, Minister Clinton ‘CD’ Porter continued with the praise and worship by singing two of my favorite songs, "It’s Amazing" and "How Great is Our God." Clinton will be featured in one our upcoming issues. He really has a smooth sound and allows God to use him to minister. Great job!
The program got better and better as time went on. Friends, family, and supporters were rolling in. The Haywood Family Mimes performed two selections that were powerful. The family worked really well together. They came all the way from Jacksonville, NC to help support Raymond and his project. What a sacrifice. You will be blessed. Great job!
Just before the second half started, there was a small intermission with hors divers. I'd like to the kitchen committee: Fonda, Teresa, Kimberly, Bondara, and Shareese. During the intermission, I had a chance to talk to the sound technician.
Karl Stienbach is the owner of Apple Guitars, a local business specializing in guitars. Karl told me he was probably only using about 1500 watts of power to run the entire system. Karl was assisted by Nathan Silver who is also a sound technician. If you need guitars or guitar supplies you may contact: appleguitars@yahoo.com
I can’t say enough about the performance after the intermission was over. My group Faithful Connection came out and set the stage for Raymond. They really got the crowd pumped up. Jonathan didn’t hold anything back and the rest of the fellas were right behind him. With songs like "Let’sGet Down," "Wave My Hand," "Tonight," and "Leave it in the Hands of the Lord," you can’t go wrong. Impressive! Great job!

And now ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, without further a due, I present to you…Raymond Silver. What a Performance! Action packed from start to finish. Raymond did his thing and had the excited crowd on their feet. “Use Me,” featuring Raymond Silver II, started it off. The spirited crowd was clapping and grooving at the same time. Raymond moved on to “Heaven” and had everyone rocking their heads. “Count it all Joy," "Won’t let Go," and "I Won’t Turn Back" topped it off. A very nice selection of songs, backed by Clinton Porter and his choir and band, Raymond really performed. Great job, and I wish you much success!
I’m still proud of Raymond and all of the performers at the CD release. I will leave you with a few comments from the audience: “It was Awesome!” - Jonathan Mercer, Ray-Ray, and Kimberly Silver. “Awesome, everybody was professional. Raymond is a natural.” – Tracy Griffin. “Fantastic!” – Tyrone Adams. “They Rocked It!" – Brittany Silver. “It was Smooth!” – Tyshawnda Silver. “It was Absolutely Awesome! A great debut for a great artist!” – Clinton CD Porter. “I enjoyed quality music and musicians in a family atmosphere.” – Jason Lewis. “It was really an honor to be able to share in this event and I pray for a huge success.” – Bondara Buckner. “This turned out to be more than I could have imagined. I thank God for the vision and for making it plain in order for us to carry out His will.” – Frankie Silver. “It was wonderful to see each group with their own individual styles perform with excellence. I enjoyed myself. It was great watching all ages grooving to the music." – Deborah Adams. “God Bless you and thanks for your support. I appreciate everyone for making it what it was supposed to be." – Raymond Silver
Other local artists in attendance: Purposed Destiny, Richard Davis Spirit in Truth, and Angie Pretlow. More from them in the next issue.
God Bless and stay tuned for more exciting news.

Raymond Silver
By Author, Gospel Lead: Anthony Silver Tue, Mar 02, 2010
One of Fredericksburg’s newest recording artists with a CD “Hot off the Press”, Mr. Raymond Silver. “Use Me” is the title of his project and that is exactly what Raymond allowed God to do. Writer, producer, singer, musician all rolled into one. Raymond decided to go solo and create his project back in 2006. This introductory interview says it all.

33: Why Fredericksburg?

Raymond: Fredericksburg is home for me. [Raymond believes in the local talent] and said that the quality is right here all around us.

33: What keeps you inspired?

Raymond: [Raymond is grateful to God for all of the blessings that he has been given.] I have an Attitude of Gratitude. [Raymond owns his own studio and is currently looking for Gospel artists that need help in getting their message out.]

33: Any particular goal for 2010?

Raymond: I would like to be known as a producer, engineer, arranger as well as a connector; being able to connect musicians and singers together with the public.

33: Any encouraging words for artists that want to pursue a music career?

Raymond: Be true to yourself, and true to your craft. [He would also encourage artists to be original and invest in themselves.] If you won’t invest in yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to.

You can purchase Raymond’s CD “Use Me” by visiting his website: www.raymondsilverproductions.com

Raymond’s CD release will be held on March 6, 2010 at the Arm of The Lord Ministries. The program starts at 6:00pm. Other local artists will be performing as well; Faithful Connection, Clinton Porter, and the Haywood Mime Team. There will be a special guest emcee also; Mr. Ray Braswell, Jr.

"Faith Section - Use Me by Raymond Silver"

Use Me by: Raymond Silver

Yes! Raymond is my brother and I am very proud of him for completing this project.
There are so many things that I would like to say about this project but I’ll try to keep it simple and to the point so you can read more of the magazine.

Recording a CD is not an easy task for anyone from a local standpoint. It takes a tremendous amount of time, patience and a certain set of skills to put out a good project. This particular CD shows that Raymond Silver possesses the necessary skills to complete such a task.

Raymond is a producer, songwriter, arranger, composer, singer and musician. He has taken out the time to build his own studio for making his own music. He has a unique style and was able to do all of his vocals and music by himself for the majority of the CD. His son Raymond Silver II and his nephew Quentin Silver were featured on a couple of tracks as well. I am certain that all of the long nights and hard work will pay off soon.

For those of you who are wondering, Yes! Raymond is my brother and I am very proud of him for completing this project. I have to say, job well done my brother. The mix sounds great, the artwork is nice and my two favorite tracks are Peace in the Valley and the title track Use Me.

I encourage all of you to purchase a copy of this CD so that you will be blessed too. Don’t take my word for it, buy one for yourself and please don’t make copies for your friends. BUY YOUR OWN.

Go to www.raymondsilverproductions.com and you’ll be able to purchase one from cdbaby.

Discography

I recorded a CD for Raymond E. Silver II. called "New Praise" and released it locally. It did well with all age groups. I've also recorded several local artists. I just completed my own CD titled "Use Me" because I have been called to serve. My project gives me the opportunity to do just that and it can be purchased thru CDBaby.com and I am looking forward to getting it out to all to be blessed by it! I am excited about this season of life for me and I'm ready for the challenges ahead for my music career.

Bio

I am deeply rooted in a gifted family of gospel musicians. I love versatility and try to reach all age groups with my music and songs. I write, arrange, perform, produce and record my own music. I want others to be blessed and motivated to another spiritual level in life by allowing myself to be used as a vessel to give messages of life.

I have had the privilege to retire from the U.S. Marines after 20 years of service. I served (2) combat tours and returned home without a scratch by the grace of God! Having been all over the world, I've had the honor to serve in many churches as well as play for some of the best artist in the gospel arena. I have played for Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Ronald Winnans (late) as well as opened for Willie Neal Johnson (late) & the Gospel Keynotes, The Williams Brothers, Paul Porter & The Christianaires to name a few. I have worked the sound for CeCe Winnans & the Born Again Choir while in Nashville, TN. I served as Minister of Music/ Music Director while in Okinawa, Japan, Little Ark Baptist Church, Dalgren, VA and while at Camp Al Asaad Chapel in Iraq. My gifts have made room for me and have allowed me opportunities to be before great men and women while yet learning my craft.

I have been influenced by many artist from various genres which help me to have my own uniqueness about me. I am a true worshiper at heart and I love when God uses me to usher His people into His presence.

I have a setup with ProTools HD-3, Logic Pro X and Reason software that allows me the freedom to work and create the best I can for all listeners.
