"Song of the Week: Rayne "Hero""

We recently featured Rayne’s collaboration with Lauryn Taylor. Now has returned with her debut single “Hero”. With the female realm of Hip-Hop monopolized by artists such as Nicki Minaj, music lovers are desperate for a change. Rayne provides this ever growing void with the Debut single from her highly anticipated project I Have a Dream called “Hero”. With an instrumental that causes involuntary head bobbing, Rayne’s impressive lyrical delivery pulls you into to the journey of rare talent and ambition. At the end of the heroic anthem, Rayne confirms her mission by stating “ Every time you see a picture of me, or you see me period, I want you to look at me with my invisible cape on and know that I came to save the game”. With the looks of things, Rayne is well on her way to being what the people want, a Hero. View and listen to Rayne’s new single “Hero” and let us know what you think.

"Song of the Week: Lauryn Taylor Ft. Rayne Punky B "Rest of Me""

"Atlanta Artist, Rayne Punky B took a trip to Memphis, TN to create this flawless hit with Lauryn Taylor. This free spirited video comes just in time for spring. While singing the lyrics, “Don’t rush me… “I’ll make the best of the Rest of me”, Lauryn and Rayne enjoy various sites around the city and end the adventurous day at a beach bomb fire. The song encourages all to not rush through life or dwell on the past but to make the best of the rest of you. The melodic voice fits perfectly over the heavily acoustic track while Rayne Punky B adds the icing on the cake at the end of the song with her unique lyrical approach and delivery. "How Can a Christian Rapper Get Started?"

“I met Ian Burke at the 2008 Winter AMTC Convention. I had completely bombed my one opportunity during the talent competition, and I needed a miracle. When the time came for speed networking, my agent, Marion Webb of Marion Model & Talent Agency (M.M.T. Agency), handed me my envelope and enclosed was a list full of agents that I could meet with in the given time frame, but she had only one name highlighted for me to see, Ian Burke of Launch Pad Entertainment. When I got to his booth and told him that I was a Christian rapper, his first response was, “What makes you think that I am interested in a Christian rapper?”

I told him that I assumed he was interested due to the fact that on the speed networking sheet, his interest read “…gospel singers and rappers” along with some others. However, I did not know that the two were totally separate. I played a little of one of my songs for him, and he said he would listen to the rest when he got back to his office in Atlanta. I sent him a message on myspace a few weeks later asking him what he thought of it, and he replied that he love my music. He just needed to know what he was going to do with me. So, I told him to call me. When he called, he told me that he liked my style and that it sounded better than most Christian rappers that he had heard. After a month or so, I had a meeting with Ian at his Drift City Records office. At the beginning of the meeting, I was completely lost. I had no idea as to how to answer any questions that he threw at me. He was up front and very honest, however. He said that I was a double negative, one I am a Chrisian rapper and two I am a female, neither of which sell that often on the Hip Hop charts.

I told him that I had a different sound that the world needed to hear and that I would not compromise. He said that he was not asking me to compromise. He said that he was interested in making money, his relationship with God was between him and God. I made it clear that my heart was focused on saving lives and making a difference. I respected his position and insight and he respected mine. Afterwards, he had me perform for him. After I finished, he asked me one simple question, “Are you willing to allow me to do whatever it takes to get you out there as long as I don’t cause you to have to compromise your values, beliefs, or morals?” With the favor of God on my side and God’s plan for my life in my heart, I gladly answered, ‘YES!’ “

"Rally aimed at saving Peachtree-Pine"

Singer and songwriter Rayne Punky Brewster will join with others at noon on Jan. 29 to help save the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter.

Organizers say there will be a petition to sign calling for the shelter to remain open and they are also asking people to bring clothes for a clothes drive.

"We want to get some clarification on why this location has to close when it's a resource for people who need help," said organizer Sam Marrow. Brewster, who will perform, said she is trying to raise awareness about the homeless.

The shelter is fighting efforts to evict it from that site.

"Beyond The Game: Meet Ashley “Rayne” Moore"

Known to most as a rebel with a cause, Rayne is known as the Punky Brewster of her time. When she’s not perfecting her musical talents or developing her acting skills, you can usually catch Rayne trying to figure out another way to save the world.

With a big heart and a desire to serve, Rayne decided to take an alternative approach to giving back after taking a trip to Honduras that was life altering. In an effort to live a purpose driven life, Rayne called in and listened to a Wake Up & Win call that was hosted by Beyond The Game founder and Total Life Changes Regional Director, Chanita Foster. After reaching out and eventually becoming Chanita Foster’s protégé, Rayne joined Total Life Changes and the company eventually led Rayne to her first trip to Africa.

Not knowing what to expect, Rayne landed in South Africa hoping to help change lives. She experienced a true emotional rollercoaster as the team traveled the long, dusty roads of Swaziland. There were huts with no electricity or running water; small children walking down the road with no parental guidance; and clothes hanging on trees to dry. Traveling from different care points and meeting different groups of children, it was a tearful sight to witness children smile and jump for joy over simple things such as hotdogs, apples, and blankets. Some of the children didn’t know their own birthday or had never slept on an actual bed.

Considering the Swazi lifestyle in comparison to life in the USA, Rayne definitely plans to continue going Beyond The Game and getting more people to join her. We don’t choose the life that people are born into, but we can choose how we decide to impact the lives of the people we come in contact with. In this case, Rayne chooses to be the change she wants to see in this world and go Beyond The Game. - BTG
