STREET SLANG MUSIK
RAYZ
With standout lyrics like “believe what I say when I say what I said/cuz my flow so sick I should stay in da bed/but I cant I gota git up/cuz da flow makes me nau-tious Im about to spit up/…” this Brooklyn, N.Y. born Maryland native stand out like the dreads flowing from his fitted cap. His influences which include M.O.P, Jay-Z, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris etc. for which he credits his ability to write catchy hooks, deliver and showcase his punch lines as well as perform stand out club songs. After being hype man for one of the hottest local artist on the eastern shore he decided by way of default that playing the background was not his goal, so after writing and performing his song “HUH HUH HA”, to a crowd of over 600 people with DJ Whoo Kid of G-Unit on the 1's & 2"s, Rayz “the rapper” was born, although it wasn’t until he started writing intro’s for radio show dj’s that he’d really become a house hold name.
Realizing his stronghold on his local area, he’s been dubbed Delmarva’s (Del. Md. & Va.) voice of hip-hop; his wordplay and flow represent an untapped area between both Bay Bridges, with over 12 counties and well over 20,000 dedicated hip hop heads, he was now being told to grab hold of a much wider audience. To ensure his credibility he spotlighted a few dates on the lyricist lounge tour, which included acts such as Mos Def, the Outsidaz and Masterfuol, and has also opened for acts such as Jay-Z as well as other Roc-a-fella (Freeway, Oschino & Sparks) & artist Nelly, JadaKiss of the Lox, Keith Murray, and artist on the Ruff Ryder’s (Gin) & G-Unit labels (Hot Rod). He’s been described as an explosion of raw high-energy, emotion, gift wrapped in music.
As he developed his skill, the tasks of finding a notable producer was at hand, and as luck and God’s will would prevail he’d be introduced to a producer who's clientele include groups like the Terror Squad and now deceased platinum selling artist Big Pun, as well as platinum selling Grammy nominate artist Fat Joe, gold-selling recording artist Big L, and triple platinum artist Ole Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang clan, Hoffa, Ma$e and countless others. After banging out tracks and putting together a strong demo Rayz quickly began the shopping process.
To gain more notoriety he’s been steadily working on tracks, writing and performing in and around the Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and D.C. areas. Recently being offered a non-exclusive demo deal with Capitol Imaging Group, Inc the CEO Corbin Grimes was quoted saying “his music has breakthrough potential”. Using rap as a catapult he hopes to start “Rayz” the Kids Foundation in which he devotes his time to give back to the community speaking to kids about drug & alcohol abuse, AIDS awareness and teen pregnancy. He’s also looking forward to providing and participating in annual sports programs and doing free concerts to support his community and his foundation. Recently starting his own imprint called “STREET SLANG MUSIK”, he has released 1 full length EP, and 4 regionally popular mixtapes which has showcased some of Maryland's Eastern shores hottest mc's. Using what he’s learned he desires to inspire folks to fulfill their dreams by any means. With conscious lyrics like “Are we brainwashed by the television, got us thinking that’s a better living/ raise the children, words of wisdom deep from myself/ so I can leave a piece of myself” and countless label meetings, promo ops followed by rave reviews of his work, this unsigned mc wont be for long. As Rayz would put it “it's God’s will, it’s already done”, its just a matter of timing and patience.
