Bio

Razzy Bailey is back on the road and with a new CD coming out on Spectra Records.
This legendary performer was raised on a farm in Alabama and went on to Nashville in the late in the late 70’s to sign with RCA Records and then MCA Records. Razzy had a total of 13 Number 1 hits and 30 top 10 country hits. Razzy had six # 1’s in a row (released on back to back singles) with “I keep Coming Back” / “True Life Country Music” “Friends”/ “Anywhere There’s a Jukebox/ and “Midnight Hauler.” This achievement has not been matched by Elvis or The Beatles. He was even offered three major record deals within 20 minutes early in his career. In 1981, he was named Billboard’s Single Artist of the Year. He was even offered
Razzy has recorded and collaborated with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels and Mickey Gilley, Steve Cropper, Dobie Gray, even Kiss drummer Peter Chris and many others. He has also had his songs recorded by Richie Havens, Willie Nelson, Mel Street, Johnny Cash, Tracie Nelson, Lee Greenwood and Dickey Lee, just to name a few. Billy Joel Even played piano on his earliest version of his hit “9,999,999 Tears.”
Razzy had He also had a hit with his R & B song “I Hate Hate” before ever signing a major label deal. Razzy actually had country hits with his versions of Wilson Pickett’s “In the Midnight Hour” His good friend Charlie Pride, said once when they were touring together, that Razzy could really sound black but he couldn’t.
Razzy is one of the few artists that has successfully crossed genre boundaries and do it successfully. Razzy can cover blues, pop, country and R & B and do it with conviction. While living in Macon, he was working with Capricorn Records and Phil Waldron doing some blues records and hanging with Greg Allman and company.
Razzy has performed for huge crowds all over the world. He once performed to over a million people in Washington D C. He has made many TV appearances that have included the shows; Solid Gold, Austin City Limits, PM Magazine, Crook and Chase and the CMA Awards. He also performed at Farm Aid 94, Wimble Festival with Bob Hope and Danny Thomas. One of his most memorable performances was in Croatia when the country was still at war.
Razzy began his musical career in GA and recorded his first song with B& K Records at age 19. Razzy has been inducted into both the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and The Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. Former U.S. Senator and GA. Governor Zell Miller wrote extensively about Razzy in his book “They Heard Georgia Singing.” Miller, who is a fan of Razzy, used to come hear him whenever he could.
Today Razzy lives in Nashville, with his beautiful wife Faye Brite-Bailey, and he is busier than ever working on his new CD. He has been writing and recording non stop. He has put together a stellar band of top notch Nashville players. He is also doing countless hours of planning and promotion. Though Razzy is still considered a country performer, he still loves to crank out some blues and R& B to work up and entertain a crowd. Razzy came up the ropes when there was no such thing as vocal tuning or lip syncing. His voice is true and the music is the real thing.
