Geoff Reacher

Geoff Reacher

BandEDMCountry

Citified country. Twang dub. Rap-influenced, countrypolitan R&B with the tracks built and destroyed in real time, like Lee Hazlewood filtered through a DJ Screw aesthetic.

Biography

Native Texan Geoff Reacher performed widely around NYC in the late 90's as the singer and principal songwriter for the Reachers, a weirdo country band which cruised through various incarnations from a guitar / fiddle / drum machine trio to a seven-piece rock band with horns.

He began playing solo in 2000 in Ithaca NY, developing a beat-driven guitar-and-foot-pedal one-man-band act which combined his idiosyncratic country songwriting with a pioneering approach to live looping and real-time MIDI sequencing.

During a 2002-2006 stay in Athens GA Geoff developed a large local following, toured nationally, and established a continuing relationship with Athens-based indie Orange Twin records.

Recent years have found Geoff living in Austin TX, where he performs at art spaces and clubs and continues to tour, having undertaken Gulf Coast, Southwest, and Pacific Northwest jaunts so far in 2010.

A new LP "Don't Fear the Reacher" is slated for release this spring on Orange Twin.
