"Really Big Birds"

Really Big Birds' (aka Pat Thrasher) newest album, funny things my friend tim said, is a vast, ambient, electronic journey with a Rhodes piano guiding the way.
The flickering, wandering keys act as a torch to guide the listener through uncharted sound. Not quite definable, yet showing its influences, funny things my friend tim said, is 61 minutes of “I CAN SEE INTO INFINITY.”

Now I, as with many people, like to listen to music at every point of my life. So while I can’t recommend listening to funny things my friend tim said while cleaning your pool or working out, I can say that it’s a perfect soundtrack to your morning yoga or evening recreational drug use. When you press play, you’re whisked away, into a sea of keys and grey.

Holy Shit! That last sentence rhymed. See what this album does to you? Creative thought just bursts forth like the fireball that began all time. This album sounds like the universe as it grows and spreads through the cosmos. Well at least that’s what I get anyway.

Five days before this article published, Pat posted a message on his website stating that he had left Phoenix for Austin, Texas. We here at YabYum wish Pat the best of luck with his career and are asking for tickets now to Really Big Birds SxSW concert date sure to be in the not to distant future.

Bio

I started what would become Really Big Birds in late 2006 and released a self titled LP in 2007. In 2008 I started working on another full length album and started playing shows. The next two years were filled with live performances all over Arizona, spilling a bit into California and Oregon. I have had the privilege of sharing the stage with members of The Album Leaf, Eluvium, Real Estate, The Ruby Suns etc..
My live shows usually take place in a dimly lit room with people standing or sitting (sometimes laying) close around. There are no breaks between songs, the set flows all the way through and people often don't know exactly how many songs were played.
In 2010 I released my second full length album and did a small west coast tour. I also relocated from my long time home of Phoenix, AZ to Austin, TX.
That's about the story up until now.
