Bio

"In a league of its own...rousing energy...on the cusp of greatness" (Hello Music, 2010)

REALM is hailed as a progressive rock explosion out of Detroit, breathing new life into the heart and soul of rock & roll. And without scaring away the women & children either...clean & family-friendly CAN rock with a razor edge!

The guitar-driven sound of Realm has a broad appeal that won't easily tire. We're oft described as a blend of Rush, Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Yes, Queensryche, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Original tunes and epic covers are also influenced by other progressive-rock giants like Joe Satriani, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Genesis, Van Halen, Boston, Rainbow, Kansas, and Jimi Hendrix.

The speed of Vai & Satriani is twisted with the flair of Ritchie Blackmoor & Steve Howe, an eclectic dose of Hendrix, and Page's middle-eastern subtlety.

Queensryche-ish vocals have an operatic edge with Iron Maiden crunch. Wakeman-style keyboards add percussive perk and Floyd-ish progressions. Melodic bass work has the color of Geddy Lee and pop of Stu Hamm. The beat kicks with Cozy Powell drive & Neil Pert machination.

Progressive compositions keep each song fresh and unique. Originals range from driving & hard-hitting, to spacey or symphonic. Each member has ample opportunity to showcase extreme playing ability.

Ed weaves insanely-fast guitar licks in frenzied mayhem, a tightly-controlled sonic assault on the fretboard. Vocals project strong & clear with unwavering intensity. Dave builds high-velocity riffs and walls of sound on stacks of keyboards. Melodic thump on bass, combined with Rick's driving precision on drums, forms a dynamic bedrock that anchors REALM.
