Bio

The members of Real Reubens were scattered about doing different projects. Steve Jack had a whole slew of songs and a band with him, but the songs weren't coming across they he felt they could. He sought out to find the right people to give the songs the justice they deserved. Steve and David "DB" Burke had played together over the years in various genres including folk, bluegrass, old-time and blues. Once again he called on DB to be in the new band and give it that special twist they both were always looking for. In need of a drummer, Steve had learned that David Wilkins had just left soul cover unit "Soul Kitchen" Steve and David started "Soul Kitchen" together in 1995, but Steve left the group in 2000 to pursue his own music. Steve approached David with the idea of playing in an original music group. David reluctantly signed on and has become one of the most excited members of the band. Alas, just the right bass player was needed. Steve, David and DB went to jam session where they met Don Chambers-a super bass player and helluva nice guy. They wasted no time asking Don if he wanted to be in the group and he was excited to join. The various influences & backgrounds each member brings to the music sets Real Reubens apart. The instrumentation is also very unique as well. The lap steel and dobro blending with Steve's writing and guitar playing creates a special blend of styles that is very different yet accessible to a broad range of listeners. Influences include; Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Sting, Steve Miller, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Allman Brothers, among others
