Rebecca Berlin

Rebecca Berlin

BandFolkAcoustic

A fusion of folk/rock/jazz musical influences infused with thought provoking lyrics and a lot of raw emotion.

Biography

As a solo artist, Rebecca has been developing her style and sound for the last 5 years or so, starting off more as a folky artist and eventually evolving into an eclectic and dynamic songwriter and performer. Influences ranging from Sarah McLachlan to Ella Fitzgerald to Fiona Apple to Massive Attack, Rebecca's broad spectrum listening has given her a distinct sound that grabs audiences, roping them in with intelligent and emotionally heavy lyrics. The band came into the picture in the Spring of 2006; and is currently working with creating an equally interesting band sound. This is a dream that Rebecca has held close for a long time and her music is an honest reflection of the twists and turns her life has taken, with the hope that it will reach out and touch her audience, because music has been a saving grace for her in so many ways.

Lyrics

Ricochet

Written By: Rebecca C. Berlin

Vs 1:
I'm driving, fighting, crying
It's my last ditch at escaping the urge to disappear
The atmosphere's exploding
the reds and golds are dripping into blackness
as smoky silence lingers.. here

Vs 2:
My hands unsteady on the wheel
so laced with blue I barely feel
cause I'm reckoning with how to let you, how to let you go
Flooded by familiar faces
suffocated by this place
cause now I know, now I know, now I know

Chorus:
It's blatant you imagined that you loved me
cause clearly I am nothing, clearly I mean nothing to you now
It's plain that you were tragically mistaken
when you promised you would be here; you've done anything but stay here
clearly I'm not missing, I'm just gone

Vs 3:
Your promises, they ricochet
the emptiness reverberates
and I am riddled with these scars
Left to love myself again
but love is so elusive when you're broken
and I have been so desecrated

Bridge:
I was willing to tread your line, give you my heart and let you inside
but look what you've done
look what you've done
look what you've done
look what you've done
and I was willing to keep you around
just cause I cherished the sound of you
but look what you've done
look what you've done
look what you've done
look what you've done

Chorus repeats

Fallen Away

Written By: Rebecca Berlin

Vs 1:
You're likely right, I'm likely flawed
You'd be a fool to stay this long
Your voice drips through the line, platonically blase
and sadly I'm the only one to blame

Vs 2:
You're likely scarred, I'm likely guilty
I'd understand if your heart's hiding
We talk logistics and make comments on the clouds
and sadly that's as deep as we go now

Chorus:
If I could rewind all the clocks and fix time then I would
but you have moved outside the ring, resignation in hand
I just wasn't ready to let myself have love
and now my chance has fallen away
fallen away

Vs 3:
You're likely strong, I'm likely fragile
Slipping on the blood of wounds that I can barely handle
withdrawn inside my secrets, you never saw me try
on second thought I never let you try

Bridge:
I am sorry, oh so sorry
this is my confession of my wreckage
i am sorry oh so sorry
i have no excuses, just this message

Chorus:
If I could rewind all the clocks and fix time then I would
but you have moved outside the ring, resignation in hand
I just wasn't ready to let myself have love
and now my chance has fallen away
fallen away
fallen away
fallen away

ooh

California

Written By: Rebecca Berlin

Verse 1:
This is the breakdown
Where everything disintegrates to fragments
The rift between us full of all the remnants
As you turn, turn and walk away

Verse 2:
This is the countdown
5..4..3..2..blasting into silence
forgiveness frozen deep behind our eyes and
we go, go our separate ways
I’m dragging all the wreckage of

Chorus:
Today
Came crashing through a paper floor
I never used to notice it was torn
Today
I’m waking up, I never knew that morning light could be so scarring
Thought that you would shield me, California
I thought that you could save me, California

Verse 3:
This is the last round
Finale of my hit or miss existence
Despite all my best efforts at resistance
The clock is laughing as time ticks away

Verse 4:
This is a glass house
Your transparency is so easily shattered
But I keep trying to believe your answers
I crave your peace, imprisoned by your grace
Desperation chained me till

Chorus

Bridge:
California…California… riff

Outro: This is the breakdown…
