I knew I was in for a great ride the minute I heard the opening track. Funky, edgy, attitude-laden alt/pop/rock. Incredible voice & the ability to craft trippy, intricate music & make it sound effortless. Each song seduces. - Indie-Music.com
Reminds me of Bowie & Petty with a bit of Robyn Hitchcock. Ambient moodiness, hook-laced pop, & seething power grooves. Versatility both in the music & sharp but not haughty lyrics with interesting eccentricities. - Music Morsels
Pop/rock with an artistic groove. There's something about this music that screams New York City underground guitar. - Score! Music Magazine
...John Lennon influences filtered through early Beck and Violent Femmes. Dreamy and psychedelic in a contemporary sort of way. Nick’s voice is great, and he has a great band to flesh out his songs. - Star Polish Magazine
As a teenager, I try to find a band that I like, but I never really found one. Actually, I prefer Nick's rock music to the stuff I hear on radio or MTV. All my friends love it too. - CD Baby Fan Review
Provocative lyrics ... spirited guitars ... mesmerizing. Compelling alt rock songs. - Kweevak's Music Portal
Well-crafted pop songs that get you thinking without making you work at it. Familiar and inviting without ever sounding derivative. Some delightfully unexpected turns, too. - CD Baby Fan Review

Bio
REC came together over the last three years, starting as singer/songwriter Nick DeMatteo's project, and has grown into a tight new-alt-power-pop band. REC's goal is to create accessible songs (pop tunes) with depth & originality, and an emotional content ranging from sensitive to searing. Every song has great hooks, lyrics, melodies, and vocal harmonies as rich live as they are recorded. REC is different from most other bands because they find a way to blend a diverse array of song styles & genres into one cohesive sound. Influences: U2, the Cure, Beatles, Prince, Violent Femmes, NIN, Beck, John Lennon, et al.
