"City Heat"

Every once in a while you come across a truly no frills style of rock and roll with no glitz or glamour, just guts. City Heat, the debut EP from Toronto band recordbreaker, is about as simple a formula as you can get, and that's what makes it work. Graeme Lang, primary songwriter and lead singer, put this band together with some friends from high school and the end result was 5 guys who have a deep passion and talent for music. In a scene that is so overly saturated with whiny, fabricated pop-punk boy bands, recordbreaker is a bright light in a sometimes-dim rock scene. As stated on their website, their sound is influenced by The Beatles all the way to Wilco with some of their own unique flair woven in. "Without You" is my favourite song on the EP particularly because of Lang's voice, it just works so well with the sound. Even though these guys have been playing around Toronto for a while now, they still aren't signed to a label, which is unfortunate. Do them and yourself a favour and go to the website www.recordbreaker.ca and give them a listen and see where you can catch them live. You won't be disappointed. - Tammy Amaral (http://www.moregoatthangoose.com)

"recordbreaker"

recordbreaker-the title of their latest EP, Fuller Faster Louder Mastered, pretty much says it all! Frenetic high octane powerpop that sounds like Supergrass or The Cars on speed is what these guys do, and they do it quite well!

Bio

Power trio is an understatement. That such a huge sound comes out of three people is the definition of Recordbreaker. Featuring a unique three-piece line up of electric guitar (Graeme Lang), synths (Daniel Primerano), and drums (Matty Cameron), and with all three members on the mic, Recordbreaker is taking a daring new approach to rock music. Set to release their debut, full-length album, 3 is an exhilarating blast of pop/rock, loaded with ripping guitar riffs, cooing and chirping synths, ballsy key-bass and pulse-pounding classic rock drums.

After releasing two EPs as a five-piece, Recordbreaker lost two members. Undeterred, the boys retooled, and remerged with a brand new sound, a sound Recordbreaker could finally call their own. Recorded in Winnipeg with producer Mark Penner, AKA Cyclist, and in Toronto, 3 is named for the newly minted three-piece, and is the first full-length release for Recordbreaker. Combining the song writing influences of the Beatles and The Who with the modern production sensibilities of the likes of Phoenix and The Strokes, Recordbreaker have created a classic statement for modern times. With themes such as love and loss (Not Comin’ Home, Try Harder), passionate proclamations (Don’t Stop Now, It’s All Worth It), heart-felt yearning (Bound To Tell A Lie, Sure Ain’t Love), and even political unrest (Solutions), 3 is a multi-layered introduction to a bold new vision of Recordbreaker.
