If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know all too much about trip hop or the artists whose music falls into the underground electronic sub genre – but after hearing Red Giant‘s latest cut “Universal Daughter”, I feel obliged to dive in a little deeper.
The New Jersey-based duo – made up of Foxanne and Derrick Braxton – have been in the game for a solid minute. Churning out one experimental electronic project after another, on “Universal Daughter”, Red Giant have finally found the happy medium between edgy experimental production and melodic pop, making for a compelling trip hop jam fully-loaded with rhythmic clicks, weighty, modulated percussion and Foxanne’s sultry vocal. - Best Before
Red Giant is the New Brunswick-based duo that involves Foxanne & Derrick Braxton. Infinity is their new ep that is out now (that you can listen here) and it follows 2015’s Drones A few weeks ago, we already shared the stunning title-track. We are glad to share a new track that is not included in the work. “Siren” starts with a minimal and indented sound with that merges the vocals delicacy; in a second moment there is space for a sort of melodic line that rounds the rough texture. Bound by sonic texture and dimension, Chelsea Gohd and DRKBXT are New Jersey's elusive duo that is Red Giant. Within the contrasting aura of Chelsea's sedative vocals, there is a harmonious disjunct that presents itself as opportunity for DRKBXT's chain of broken and dynamic glitch knocks.
