"Launch Box: Red House Glory"

Red House Glory are making waves in London’s music scene . Their dynamic sound fuses catchy hooks and huge drum beats with melodic melodies and poignant lyrics. Often compared to 90's distortion and bass driven bands, they’re getting reactions from critics and fans alike that not even they had expected.

Fortitude Magazine caught up with Red House Glory for you to get to know them, and take note as they begin their take over of the underground music scene.

How are you guys today?

RHG: Good thanks, currently enjoying this fine autumn day

Can you guys introduce us to each member and what they do in the band?

Nathan Grace – Guitar

Theo Grace – Drums

Jonny Greenfield – Bass & Backing Vocals

Lewis Knaggs – Singer and Guitarist

Tell us how you guys met?

RHG: Theo and Nathan are brothers, growing up in the same house they met about 18 years ago. We all met at school playing together in bands. Nathan was in another band but then we stole him away.

What influences the Red House Glory writing both musically and lyrically?

RHG: Pretty much everything inspires the lyrics…life in general is pretty influential…Love, Death, Happiness, Sadness and all the other whiz along the way. Musically we have quite a wide range of influences, we all listen to different things so naturally it comes through when we write songs together…

You encapsulate styles from lot of 90’s bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam & The Pixies,; how do you find people reacting to your style?

RHG: Yeah some people have said that. Funny thing is I hadn’t listened to pearl jam till about 4 months ago, but have since fallen in love with them..

People tend to mention the 90's thing a lot, we love Nirvana, Pixies, Radiohead . We listen to a lot of older music aswell, Led Zeppelin, Black sabbath, Velvet Underground, The Doors, Cream, Jimi Hendrix etc…these bands were big influences on 90's bands that we love and are compared to, so I guess our music encapsulates all those styles because our influences are similar…

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

RHG: Selling out The Camden Barfly on a saturday night

Which band would you love to be the support act for?

RHG: I’d love to support Bruce Springsteen. Me and my Dad are huge fans, have been to see him every time he’s been in London the past 6 years, so it would be EPIC. Jeff buckely if he was still alive.

You have a massive following in the London music scene, are their any other bands you think people should look out for?

RHG: Our mates BEASTS are sick, go check them out…I love this new band called Wolf Alice, the lead singer is fucking gorgeous and their songwriting is scarily good…

For those who don’t know who you are, why should they check you out?

RHG: Rock needs to make its comeback…

What are your plans for the next year?

RHG: Gigs, Gigs and more gigs…a first single release, more videos and NEW SONGS!

Anything you would like say to the Fortitude Mag readers?

RHG: Stay locked for more live videos and our up and coming Live E.P

"HYPE OF THE DAY: Red House Glory"

London newcomers Red House Glory make rock music that will just blow you away. They are loud and they know how to make a statement. They are bringing a little Americana to the UK music scene, even though they are London born and bred, they have that soul and fire in their bellies that would resonate with a young KoL.

Latest track, Fever, is loaded with big drum beats that will have you begging for more, bass lines that would even make Wolf Alice swoon, it’s riff heavy guitar music and along with delicious vocals, you can’t wrong. This track is definitely radio ready, Red House Glory are the latest band to come out and just knock it straight out of the park. Below is a live video of the track, which was filmed in just one take. If you like Kings of Leon, then I bet you’ll love Red House Glory. - BITTER SWEET SYMPHONIES

"WHO'S JACK: LONDON ('Fever' audio premiere)"

You know when you imagine yourself in muddy field, with interspersed sun and rain, singing your heart out as an Indie Alt band thrash away at their guitars and wail into their mics? Well, we’ve found a band who we are dead set on doing just this very soon.

Red House Glory are the newest band to rock our world, and their brand new track ‘Fever’ is exclusively premiering with us on Who’s Jack London, today! This is the FIRST EVER listen of the track.

‘Fever’ is a live version, and was recorded in just ONE TAKE. Wow now, right?
Unsure whether to sway with our eyes closed, head bang, or just sing from the bottom of our lungs, we’ve decided it doesn’t matter. This track is going to make your friday, and give you that crunchie bar friday feeling; you don’t have a choice.

Red House Glory are: Lewis Knaggs, Jonny Greenfield, Theo Grace, and Nathan Grace.

Growing up they credit American Rock bands; Nirvana, Pixies, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam amongst their biggest influences, along with British talent like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead. Drawing upon these influences RHG possess a powerful and dynamic sound that marks a refreshing progression from the indie scene that has dominated British music in recent years. Naturally, the band’s close-knit chemistry off-stage is mirrored in their live performances. At ease amongst each other, RHG command the stage with a magnetism that cannot be faked.

Like what you’re hearing? You can catch the boys tomorrow night at Camden Town’s very own Barfly! http://mamacolive.com/thebarfly/listings/upcoming-events/8901/red-house-glory-plus-thief-japanese-fighting-fish/ - WHO'S JACK: LONDON

"ARTROCKER ('Lonely' Video Premiere + Interview)"

London's four piece rock band Red House Glory bring us another brand new video from their upcoming live EP.
With the recent release of a video for their single Fever the four piece of Lewis Knaggs (Vocals/Guitar), Jonny Greenfield (Bass), Theo Grace (Drums) and Nathan Grace (Guitar) now bring us the video for their single Lonely.

Artrocker sat down with the band for a little chat about the bands new EP, .
Playing Liverpool's Sound City and more

Thanks for chatting lads. In simple words how would you describe the bands sound??

A rock infused mix of everything we grew up listening. Big Riffs, Big drums and heaving baselines…with nice melodies.

Rock to me should represent pissed of young people who use music to voice their alternative views. Is there anything pissing off each of you? and why?

There’s a lot of thought and emotion in our music and lyrics, but i wouldn't say it comes from an aggressive place necessarily. The typical pissed off teenager who hates they're parents and themselves, isn't really us…But there’s definitely a lot of anxiety and pressure in the mind of a teenager growing up, so i suppose this comes through in the songs and the music we make...

Thanks for chatting lads. You’re still independent yes? Have you been in touch with any record labels?

No we are keeping focussed on our music, trying not to get distracted with label stuff.

Do you all feel pressure to constantly write new material or is more laid back than I'm assuming?

Writing new material always is exciting, it’s no chore.

What bands were you all obsessed with as teens? Do all these teenage obsessions continue to influence your music?

Yeah definitely, More recent stuff Nirvana, Early Chilis, Pearl Jam, Jeff Buckely, KOL, Pixies, Strokes, Deftones. older stuff Beatles, The stones, Led Zepp, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen. I feel the music you grow up on sets the tone of your music taste for life…so naturally it spills into the music we make now.

What are the pros and cons to been a musician in the UK?

Doing the thing you love the most, and being in a place where music is so influential to the whole world. Surrounded by amazing bands that have made themselves globally know, some really local to us, are a major source of inspiration.

Can you tell me about your new live EP? What can we expect from the new record?

Originally we were working on some studio recordings of tracks that we were going to release as an E.P. Around this time we went into our mates studio to film a live session of us, doing 1 or 2 takes of a couple new songs. We came out a lot more excited about the live recordings than the stagnant studio recordings we had done. So we decided to scrap the old recordings and use these, we feel it represents us the best as what we are.
It’s a live record, so expect us live. It’s an Introduction to Red House Glory.

Have you played many gigs the past few months,? What's the pros and cons to gigging so much?

Living in London means we have the opportunity to gig regularly at good venues. You get a lot tighter as a band when you play more regularly, less nervous as well as you know what to expect

What first got you all in to music? and together as a band?

Our families have all been musicians at some point, so growing up around live music was a big part of it.
the and Nathan are brothers, and we all met at school, rehearsing and playing local gigs.

What in your opinion is the most meaningful song on the EP and why?

would probably be "lonely". Its about making sense of the places your mind can drift to when your alone, when theres nothing to distract or comfort you but your own thoughts. I guess people will take what they want from it, hopefully something good, which is what means the most to us.

Is there anything about the music industry or musicians that really irritate all members?

No, so far were just enjoying the ride….

Play any festivals or urban events this year? if so. Is there anything you specifically like about playing festivals?

Playing at Liverpool sound city was. It’s a good eye opener for a new band.

If the band could sumup their progression in the part 4 years in one sentence what would it be? (Each member)

Big progression in song writing and a as a live band (all of us)

Is there any new bands out there that you really like? What music are you all listening to these days?

Jagwar Ma, Beasts, Thief

What do you do to take a break from music? Just relax is it?

Usually music is the break and relaxation from the rest of our lives.

Do you feel your live sound transfers well on the record? Was keeping it sounding as live as possible a priority when recording?

Yeah it was definitely a priority, we wanted to show people who we are as a band and what they'd expect to hear at a gig. Rather than a producers interpretation/perception of us?

"VENTURE MAGAZINE (5/5 Single Review)"

text coming soon - please see URL - Venture Mag UK

"HUNGER TV ('Fever' Video Premiere)"

the controlled power and sleekness of Red House Glory’s debut release ‘Fever’ points to a quiet assuredness that’s still a pleasant surprise when hearing first records. Immediate comparisons point at 90s cult greats Moist or even early 2000s pop chart- successes Lifehouse.

Choosing to release a live version of your debut single as video is a ballsy affair, but the melody and vocals are both tight here, with vocalist Lewis Knaggs channeling images of dusty Americana as much as his Muswell Hill accent.

Red House Glory are already earning their stripes at established venues like the Roundhouse, Camden Barfly and Islington Academy – their chemistry as a band (the four are childhood friends, two of which are brothers) and their sprawling, bass heavy sound pricking up the ears of A&Rs looking for the great American comeback. Only this time it’s emanating from the dive bars of North London. - Hunger TV

"Everybody digs Red House Glory"

We all dig Red House Glory at the minute, they’re a four-piece from North London. We hope to play a few gigs with them on our UK Tour. - Merge Music Magazine

"So Easy - Video Premiere"

Red House Glory are premiering their new video for So Easy, exclusively with Kerrang!.

The London four-piece’s intense new video is for the first song to be taken from their upcoming Heart Of Gold EP, which is set for release on June 29. Watch So Easy below, and let us know what you think in the comments! - Kerrang!

"So Easy - Premiere"

Nineties Brit-rock revivalists Red House Glory are gearing up to unveil their brand new EP Heart of Gold this summer, and Exclaim! has got your first listen to their latest single "So Easy."

The tune opens with a jangly guitar line and pounding percussion, but builds itself into a swirling, grunge-tinged number that would probably make Noel Gallagher proud. Psychedelic riffs and expertly implemented cowbell bolster the gloomy, booming bassline, preventing the song from veering into more morose territory.

The new EP marks the band's follow-up to last year's Living a Lie EP and will hit shelves on June 29. According to a press release, find the band boxing "cleaner and sharper than ever before, capturing the band in sterling form."

Red House Glory will be playing the Camden Rocks Festival in their native UK on May 30, with more live gigs to be announced soon. For now, listen to the band's latest sonic offering in the form of "So Easy" by hitting play below. - Exclaim!

"Living A Lie - Q"

If Noel Gallagher ever decided to down-tune his guitar and jam with Brighton riff monsters Royal Blood, the result would probably sound a lot like Red House Glory’s swaggering Living A Lie. Seriously. - Q Magazine

Bio

Red House Glory are a rock band born and based in London. Their dynamic sound fuses catchy hooks and huge drum beats with melodic melodies and poignant lyrics. The band’s powerful sound, combined with the lead singer’s impressive vocals, revives a conflation of Rock n Roll’s timeless dynamism and the wistful rawness of 90’s Grunge. Yet, their simultaneous innovation anchors them firmly in the present, generating a refreshing deviation from the current British music scene.

Red House Glory’s close-knit chemistry off-stage (all four are childhood friends, two of which are brothers) is reflected in their live performances. Applauded for their “electrifyingly passionate sets”, the band commands the stage with a magnetism that cannot be faked. They sold out their debut show at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town and have since graced the stages of acclaimed London venues such as The Roundhouse, The Barfly, Camden Proud Galleries and Islington Academy.

‘Fever’ is a high-energy EP with a great build-up and huge choruses. As the band are so well-known for their live performances, they have decided to scrap their polished recordings and debut with a live session EP – ‘Fever’
