Bio

Red 70 Blackstar formed in May of 2008 in the western suburbs not too far from Chicago. The name stems from a departed friend and original drummer, whom through his early and tragic death reunited the group to make them who they are today. Founding members Eric Siwicki and Nick Ingram worked together in a previous band, which included Ray Ingram and their late friend Kevin Kolber. After a few years together music influences changed and the band shifted apart. The unfortunate passing of their dear friend Kevin Hamilton Kolber brought forth a bittersweet reunion and it was at the wake that the idea of the band was formed. After a few months of song writing and preparation the band was in need of a drummer and Ray, having remembered meeting a drummer a few months earlier, decided to give Joe Yarbrough a call. It was from there that things took off. By August of 2008 they had a self-recorded demo and began playing shows immediately after. It was early 2009 when the band decided to enter a local recording studio with decent equipment to make the demo that you are hearing today. Since the demo they have continued playing countless shows all around Chicago land and surrounding suburbs. They started to build a fan base through their live show and have created a buzz in many of the bars that they have performed at. Over the course of the last two years each member has brought their own unique style and influence to the table. Being able to mesh together songs with those influence’s, their goal as a band is to keep those styles alive while creating their own niche in the rock and roll music scene.
