Bio

In a time when our eyes and ears are saturated, our minds flooded with cynicism and distrust, it is difficult to believe in something as simple as a good song. Yet everywhere, in the desert, by the ocean, on the internet, people are making music
and passing coded messages.

Red Arrow Messenger humbly presents itself as a direct line of communication to all ears willing to listen. Red Arrow Messenger summons the California of the 1960s, where our collective quest for identity and freedom of consciousness brought a renaissance of music, art, and political activism. At the same time, the songs are colored by modern sounds and subject matters. Singer and songwriter Jesse Nolan frequently discusses his affection for American roots music and the pillars of the Rock n Roll tradition (Dylan, Neil Young, the Beatles and Stones, the Kinks, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills and Nash, Bowie, the Band) but the collaborative process with Keith Patterson (bass) and Stephen Edelstein (drums) has yielded a sound that subtly references the band's contemporary influences as well.

Jesse, Keith and Stephen have been friends for many years. Stephen and Jesse were elementary schoolmates who began making music together while attending UC Berkeley. They met Keith shortly thereafter and formed a band. The band relocated to Los Angeles in 2006 and is releasing their debut album in early 2010.

In the songs of Red Arrow Messenger you may hear echoes of the voices that you grew up with or hear something completely new, a quiet call to arms, a punchline or a really good secret.
