Bio

Red Crown Standard emerged in June of 2006, from the ashes of a local Bay View band called Kindred. Three friends playing music for the joy of creation and performing. Our influences are Jimi Hemdrix, Buddy Guy, Alvin Lee, Marvin Gaye, and John Mayer. Our sound is guitar driven, which is enhanced by a solid rhythm section.

What makes Red Crown Standard special is the relationship it develops with an audience. Our belief is that it is a privilege to perform and that our job is to make an audience remember they have attended one of our shows. We interact with the audience; Martin and Samm walk into the crowd and perform in the crowd in the great Chicago blues tradition. We balance the traditions of our sound, with recent music and our own originals.

Most of our early work was done in the studio, as we worked on trying to perfect the sound we heard in our heads and our hearts. In August of 2006, a EP of original material was cut and the band started performing around Bay View and the Metropolitan Milwaukee area. In October of '06, the band had the first opportunity to play outside of Milwaukee, when it secured a gig in Madison. Shows in Appleton and Sheboygan soon followed. As the band has developed, so has its loyal fan base, which always seems to find a way to make it to one of our shows. Our most recent achievement was to be selected to play at the All Campus Battle of the Bands at UW-Madison.
