"MPFrees: Red Datsun, "Freak Scene""

Not to be confused with the New Zealand band the Datsuns, Red Datsun is a homegrown, New York indie band. "Freak Scene" mixes a gritty lived-through-it-all attitude with lyrics about living life to its fullest. Currently finishing up their debut album, due out Aug. 28, catch them at Mo Pitkin's on Friday night." -- Maxine Shen - NY Post (April 24, 2007)

RED DATSUN is the product of lives spent in suede cubicles, shadowy bars, ambient trains, and throttled cars. Young lives rooted in the sound of the rock & roll the way the kids used to do it, and the way it used to be done. Analog, dirty, unfastidious.

Naming such bands as The Kinks, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Clash, The Specials, XTC, Wire, Pixies, Pavement among their influences, RED DATSUN has developed a rock & roll sound synthesized from 70's and 80's roots, rock, punk, and post-punk elements.

Consequently, RED DATSUN rocks the downpour. Miller gets torrential on the mic. Lyrically, it's like joy and pain. That is to say: sunshine getting donkeypunched by rain.

Guitarist Al Bondigas, Jr., is a an ex-member, associate, former associate and/or graduated fellow from acts such as P.I.C, ELECTRO-LUX (New Brunswick, NJ), BROKEN ATLANTIC, SHIVA COPAL, BLACK SONNY and the JACK LORDS. His influences include haircuts, flan and cheap magazines.

Keyboardist Eric Gonzales, aka 'RICE', aka 'Gonz, the Man Behind the Junk', of New Jersey, brings his years of valuable industry experience and keyboard chops to the table. On keys with hiphopfunkmamboska legends P.I.C, Eric has seen his share of NYC musicians, bands and venues come and go while P.I.C remains vital, relevant, and rocking steady after all these years. God save Gonz's junk.

On bass guitar, Gui provides the indispensible low-end crunch. Gui has worked extensively with legendary Dallas/Virginia-based session guitarist Dat Nguyen.

Bob on drums.
