"HOT TRACKS - FOUR STARS"

We start on Sunday and within the span of 10 tracks end on Tuesday. The Red Directors sure do like the days of the week on their album, Wave it In. With a distinctly west coast sounding guitar sound with New York, East Village vocals they are non pretentious indie rock. It’s accessible, pleasing to the ears if you will.
This album is fun. It’s very light and doesn’t drag on and on. It starts right with “After Sunday” and ends on the right note (and the right time) with “142 (on a Tuesday).” It has the right amount of rise and fall. There is nothing good about an album that makes you dance every single song; one does need a water break at some point after all. Red Directors gives you that nice smorgasbord of sounds. You can dance, you can sway with a lighter in your hand and you can just simple chill out and become one with the couch, it’s really whatever you like.
I know, I know, as of late much of what comes out of the indie rock vein has the stigma of sounding all the same but these guys aren’t monotonous. They have one track, “Naked in the Kitchen”. It’s about, well, being naked in the kitchen and frankly getting down to “business”. The song has you wondering why the hell you, yourself, aren’t naked in the kitchen. Like I said, fun. How many bands are rocking out singing about being naked in the kitchen? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Lead singer and guitarist Trevor Potts has an infectious voice that is bound to get stuck in your head. Not in that "I'm a grown man singing Christina Aguilera" kind of way, but in a good way--meaning you'll actually like this being engrained in your cranium. It has a tremendously poppy appeal while not being anywhere near the bubblegum aisle. Red Directors are a musical pleasure that doesn’t have to be guilty.

"RadioIndy is pleased to present Red Directors with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Wave it In ""

If you like pop/rock with bigger-than-life hooks and sing-along choruses that stick with you long after the last note has drifted off into the night then, Red Directors, delivers the goods on their latest CD, “Wave It In,” a ten song collection of highly polished power pop gems. “After Sunday” kicks things off with its infectious, era-spanning sense of melody and drive. It’s only one of several highlights though. “Been Around” and “Pretty Good Odds” demonstrate the band’s ballads are no less formidable than their best rockers, despite such defining up tempo performances as “Naked in the Kitchen” and “Woken Eye.” Elsewhere, they more than ably show they can cover that middle ground between rocker and ballad too, offering up the terrific “Spin” and the endearing “Amazing,” each with the same post-Beatles flourish that infuses the entire CD. With such a solid multi-format, pop/rock approach to their sound the “Wave It In” CD by Red Directors is sure to please across generation lines, a tribute to their talent as well as their influences.

Red Directors

Formed in 2007, RED DIRECTORS were recently selected by MTV as one of the top 3 breakout bands in New York City. RED DIRECTORS is a collage of rock, pop, punk, electro, garage and epic song writing. With their wide range of style, timeless hooks, and rich harmonies… all mixed with a raw, high-energy performance, RED DIRECTORS have been drawing people from all over.

RED DIRECTORS members: Trevor Potts (songwriter, vocals, guitar, piano), Joe Mangan (bass), Matt Churchill (lead electric guitar), Brett Thompson (drums) and Justin Etheredge (Keys) have been referred to as the “the guys next door” who simply unload when it is time for them to take the stage.

Not too long ago, RED DIRECTORS were playing for friends in their studio/rehearsal space, which is an old school, cedar-shingled shed tucked away in a secret spot. It has taken no time at all for these wise-asses to pull their musical vision out of the shed and into some of the best-known clubs in New York City, as well as up and down the East Coast.

The track, “Been Around” has been described as a “genuine and timeless acoustic ballad that strikes a chord with its authenticity”. ”Amazing” has also garnered much respect and is one of the band's most well received tracks where lyrically, Potts, again, combines raw intimacy with a gruff confidence and floods the audience with a tidal wave of sound and human emotion.

RED DIRECTORS prove that there are still one of the most raw and compelling bands ripping through the clubs of New York City.

RED DIRECTORS and their mission have only just begun.
