Red Ed and the Undead

Red Ed and the Undead

BandPopRock

An amalgamation of the rock/pop that so inspired us to pick up instruments and make new songs. Edward and his reanimated minions satisfy the deep pop longings you've been too embarrassed to admit to, even to yourself.

Biography

Seeking to outdo their self-titled debut CD, this album represents growth and evolution in their style and creative process. Forgotten Song features elaborate vocal harmonies, melodic guitar driven pop elements and lyrics that range from playful to darkly introspective. Red Ed and the Undead is the pop/rock project of composer/front man Ed Able, who is delighted to enlist the aid of his friends and peers as the
Undead. These songs are informed by an enthusiastic obsession with the Beatles, the Smithereens, Colin Hay
(Men At Work), and many other artists.

Lyrics

2000

Written By: Ed Able

When I was just a boy
the future seemed to look so bright
Someday the fate of man would conquer
every star that filled the night
We’d cast aside the ways
of our earthly limitations
Seeking new horizons
far beyond the moon’s rotations
Now here it is long since 2000
And I still don’t have a rocket car to fly in
We’ll never visit the future or even the past
It seems tomorrows dreams weren’t meant to last
There were many books and toys
to spark imagination
Fantasy technology
would break through limitations
We’d reach to every heaven’s end
and all across creation
Seeking otherworldly friends
to join in recreation
Now here it is long since 2000
Why oh why don’t I have a rocket car to fly in
I’ll never visit the future or even the past
I think tomorrows dreams weren’t meant to last

(solo)

Now here it is long since 2000
Why oh why don’t I have a rocket car to fly in
I’ll never visit the future or even the past
I think tomorrows dreams weren’t meant to last

Forgotten Song

Written By: Ed Able

It’s time of tears
It’s time for fun
Time for all
And time for one

All that’s in
Where begins
A deeper skin
Could only win

Trusting true
Me or you
Seeing through
And wonder who

Something’s strange
Could I be wrong
Sounds like
A forgotten song

Reasoned with
Unspoken lies
Deafened by
Whispered sighs

Simplified
Taught intent
Will they know
Just what we meant
Take your pick
Between two toys
One creates
And one destroys

Something’s strange
Could I be wrong
Sounding like
A forgotten song

Always asking
Feel the pinch
Pulling tighter
Inch by inch

Grab to reach
Above the crowd
Clamoring
It’s getting loud

Herd it all
But mind the source
Rise and fall
It’s a matter of course

Something’s strange
Could I be wrong
Sounds like
A forgotten song

Is It Enough

Written By: Ed Able

Sharing time became us sharing everything
trust for us was little room for doubt
fading seasons wilt the days and anyways
all that's left I'd rather do without
thought to call you up but then
I'd better think again
silence was the voice of this only just a friend
seconds into hours recall all of ours
will it get tough
if you fool around
is it enough
just to make a sound
gotta give it up
once you've been found
gotta live it up
'til you hit the ground
now's the time to try let's start letting go
make some room and sweep away the past
might not mention when the ending started
pretending was the only thing to last
pulled close to this old lover
who knows just where you've been
dancing with another, unfamiliar skin
seconds into hours
forgetting all of ours
will it get tough
if you fool around
is it enough
just to make a sound
gotta give it up
once you've been found
gotta live it up
'til you hit the ground

(solo)

It seems that I've forgotten the jokes I thought I knew
laughing last could prove to be a pricey point of view
state the case and watch as once again
i can't get through
thought to call you up but then
I'd better think again
silence is the voice of this only just a friend
wilting with the flowers recall all of ours
will it get tough
if you fool around
is it enough
just to make a sound
gotta give it up
once you've been found
gotta live it up
'til you hit the ground

Will it pick you up
if you make a sound
will it make you tough
when you've been around
gonna give enough
once you have found
gotta live enough
to make a sound

Chameleon Phenomenon

Written By: Ed Able

Would you like to play truth or dare
without a heart or a care
and catch a lucky star
you know just who you are
telling us more than we oughta know
taking me places I don't want to go
should we all respond
or can we get beyond
'cus when the icon is bygone
what can you depend on
chameleon phenomenon
dance with resplendent excess

sell the sin and then confess
overnight sensation
growing overripe
so ride the controversy
and the hype
Careful when you reach the top
Nobody every wants to stop
The fleeting golden days
The setting final rays
telling us more than we oughta know
taking me places I don't want to go
ambition when it's blond
can make 'em all respond
but when the icon is bygone
what can you depend on
chameleon phenomenon
