'Forgotten Song'

Red Ed and The Undead

Don't be put off by the name of the artist or the CD's title.

Ed Able, the alter ego of local music teacher and solo artist Ed Hyman, is no creature from science fiction. Firmly grounded in both classical composition and rock guitar, Ed and a group of talented contributors have created a well-rounded disc that contains some memorable tunes.

Able, whom you remember as the guy who wrote a rock song about the lead character in Kurt Vonnegut's "Fahrenheit 451" a couple of years ago, takes aim at contemporary threats like computer networking and Oprah-like social consciousness raising. Nevertheless, Ed and his band render their exasperation with humor, infectious harmonies and memorable guitar work.

Oh, and yes, the disc also has that "451" song about Vonnegut's rebellious fire starter. Able and his group will be performing songs from the CD at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13 at the Attleboro Masonic Lodge. - The Sun Chronicle

Bio

Seeking to outdo their self-titled debut CD, this album represents growth and evolution in their style and creative process. Forgotten Song features elaborate vocal harmonies, melodic guitar driven pop elements and lyrics that range from playful to darkly introspective. Red Ed and the Undead is the pop/rock project of composer/front man Ed Able, who is delighted to enlist the aid of his friends and peers as the
Undead. These songs are informed by an enthusiastic obsession with the Beatles, the Smithereens, Colin Hay
(Men At Work), and many other artists.
