Bio

Being one of the few pioneering the second wave of Latin Alternative music in Chicago, Re. De La Parka has left its mark and influence. Forming in the late 90’s, the founding members, Frozty and Samuel Valle, have had many detours in their musical careers and decided in 2000 to put La Parka on hold. In 2004, after a 4-year hiatus, Frozty and Sammy decided it was time to pick up the ashes and reform the band. Now the band consists of Alexander Sanchez (bass guitar) and Jaime Guzman. Together they have had the privilege of winning “Buscando a la Banda Mas Chida de Chicago 2006”, sponsored by Miller Lite. In April of 2008, Re. de la Parka released their first full-length album, “Hasta El Fin”, to a sold out crowd in one of Chicago’s premier rock venues. In it containing 12 songs of intense but upbeat rock guitars, steady bass lines and the unique drum beats that make this band stand out. The album has been very successful locally and through Internet sales.

Re. de la Parka has had the opportunity of sharing the stage with many local bands and recently, thanks to popular demand, the band has had the opportunity of opening for internationally known artists from Mexico. The list includes bands like: Elefante, Heavy Nopal, Liran Roll, Luzbel, Babasonicos, Motel & Pastilla.

Some of the band members have also performed in prestigious hot spots or events, such as; the Roxy (Los Angeles, Ca) & Westchester Bar (Los Angeles, Ca), Burger King Battle of the Bands 2008 (Denver, Co), D’ Antigua (New York, NY), Miller Lite’s “Buscando la Banda mas Chida 2006” (Chicago, IL), House of Blues (Chicago, IL), Double Door (Chicago), Metro (Chicago), Hot House (Chicago), Congress Theater (Chicago, IL), Cobra Lounge (Chicago, IL), Subterranean (Chicago, IL), Elbow Room (Chicago, IL), Old Town School of Folk Music (Chicago, IL).

With great confidence, El Renacimiento de la Parka continues ahead as there is still much more to be achieved. With a music video in the works and new songs being worked on, the future looks bright for this quartet from Chicago.
