BandAmericana

Formed in Rhode Island in 2005 and founded on strong vocal harmonies, playing original songs and Americana covers, we incorporate electric and acoustic instrumentation to create soundscapes that are evocative of this country, from western highways to the open ocean. "Acoustic ~ Electric ~ Eclectic"

Biography

Derek Escher and Tim Murphy 'found' each other through the sailing community, and began playing coffee houses and small venues as a duo. Some time later they were joined by Ken Taylor on bass, and thus the nucleus of Red Eye Flight was formed. Rand Torman joined the band a few years later and with the addition of percussion, the sound evolved from a quiet and pretty acoustic flavor into more of a gritty, earthy Americana style, with influences from Wilco, Drive By Truckers, Dave Alvin and more. With the addition of Kelly Cleveland (vocals, keys) the band has been able to bring in even more influences such as Lindi Ortega, Lucinda Williams, Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welsh. Our music is saturated with 3, 4 and 5 part harmonies. We play Americana covers and often tweak the music to give the songs our own Red Eye Flight twist. We have a growing stable of original songs and our first CD is being finalized and is scheduled for release in April.
