Bio

Red Eye Max is an American Rock band located in Bloomington IN. Created in 2004 the band performs their original music mixed with blues, rock, and contemporary country cover songs. The band considers their music to be "American Rock" or “Alternative Country” with influences such as John Mellencamp, George Strait, SRV, Johnny Cash, and ZZ Top to name just a few. The 6 band members bring a diverse musical background as well as many years of live performance, recording, and touring experience and it doesn’t take long to see that there is also a strong work ethic and passion for what they do behind it all. The bands first CD “True Story” is a perfect example displaying their collective sound and writing style. The songs touch on the familiar subject of love and loss, good clean drinking fun, growing up in “small town” America, and the bands patriotic take on a soldier’s life during the war.

“True Story” was released for sale in April of 2008 and after the release the band experienced some very good local success selling 1,000 copies in the first 3 months. At the time of the release, Red Eye Max was made up of original members, Lead Singer Jason Sturgeon, Drummer Tim Roberts, Bass player Tyler Roberts, and Lead Guitarist Jeff Schwegman. Keyboards and Fiddle were soon added, supplied by Tammy Vysma and fiddle by Heather Craig rounding out Red Eye Max’s roster.

That same month the band entered Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” competition and placed in the runner-up spot out of ~30 bands in that specific region. Not long after their strong showing in the competition the single “Pike County Dirt” went on full rotation at WHCC “Hoosier Country” 105.1 FM and spread to other stations in Southern Indiana. Red Eye Max also had the opportunity to perform before the James Otto/Rodney Adkins/Brooks & Dunn concert at Verizon Wireless in Indianapolis, IN making many new fans and earning great praise and feedback from the promoters of the event and upper management of the venue. The summer of 2008 was capped off in September by the bands CD release party at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, IN. It was a night showcasing the bands original music and the response was excellent, selling all tickets and filling the theater! Also in September the band played support for Luke Bryan at his Woody’s / 99.5 WKDQ “Cheap Seats” concert series in Evansville, IN and was asked by the venue to open for James Otto as well!

Benefit concerts have been an important part of the bands beginnings and that continued in 2008. Red Eye Max performed at Rezonate 08’ in Cincinnati OH where the proceeds went to help the children of the Pine Ridge Oglala Lakota (Sioux) Indian Reservation, specifically in purchasing school supplies to further their education. The band also performed at many other benefits/events this summer including the “Flags for Freedom” concert in Bloomington, IN, presented by WHCC 105.1 FM honoring our veterans and “Ovar’coming Together”, a benefit to raise awareness and money for Ovarian Cancer research.

The band performs each show as if it were our last giving our all to the audience. Our original music management, live show bookings, websites, merchandise, marketing and promotions are currently managed by Jason Sturgeon. We are all very passionate about our music and the business that has been created and are focused on succeeding in the music industry.
