Bio

Red Forrest began playing bass guitar professionally “way back in the last century”, performing extensively throughout central New England. He then studied music privately with Jim Price before enrolling at the Berklee College of Music in the fall of 1980; He graduated in June of 2003 with a B.A. in Professional Music. He studied electric bass privately while at Berklee with Greg Mooter and the late John Neves.

Forrest relocated to Los Angeles the following year, where he played a number of live gigs and studio dates. He was the owner/agent of the Forrest Agency from 1995 until 2000, during which time he was licensed by the State of California as a talent agent, as well as being franchised by the American Federation of Musicians to represent union members. Some of his more well-known clients included Dick Halligan, Grammy-winning founding-member of Blood, Sweat, and Tears; John Hall, founding member of Orleans and co-writer of their biggest hits such as DANCE WITH ME and STILL THE ONE (and now the Democratic Congressman from New York’s 19th district); singer-songwriter Freebo, formerly Bonnie Raitt’s longtime bassist who now produces and performs his own original works; and Sam Kriger, the late John Raitt's longtime Musical Director and accompanist, among many others.

Red served as a Final Judge for the CableAce Awards in the Original Score category in 1997, and was interviewed by John Braheny on SAMM BROWN'S FOR THE RECORD on KPFK FM radio in Los Angeles. He has held memberships in the AES, AFI, AFM, AIMP, CCC, Film Music Network, IFP/West, NMPA, NARAS, and the SCL. He has attended the American Film Market, Cine Gear, Comdex, the NAB Show, NAMM, and Showbiz Expo West.

Forrest now operates his own project studio, comprised of a combination of digital and vintage analog recording gear, to write and produce his songs with. A long-time bass guitarist, he now enjoys the additional roles of songwriter, harmonica player, and producer.
