Bio

Hailing from a small town just outside of Jacksonville, Florida, Red Letter Bullet began as a family band in early 2006. Rick and Ian Kennedy (brothers) teamed up with their cousins Andy and Ryan Kennedy (brothers) to form the band which started as just a hobby. Very soon, the cousins discovered that there was something electric--something undeniable--beneath the surface.
A few months later, the band played its first show in a battle-of-the-bands competition in a packed-out Murray Hill Theatre, a place that would soon become Red Letter Bullet's home venue. The band placed second in the multi-round competition out of over 20 bands from North-east Florida. Shortly after, the band placed first in another battle-of-the-bands competition at an abstinence promoting festival called A-fest.
This successful start only solidified what the cousins uncovered from the very beginning.
Over the course of the next year, the band continued to write songs and eventually recorded the EP "Of Kings and Crowns" in 2007 at the notable Vision Sound Studios where the rock group Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was discovered, as well as the place where famous artists such as Alicia Keys and Johnny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd have recorded.
After much local success in the first couple years, Red Letter Bullet was soon to embark on a new page in the band's life.
In 2008, the band picked up a new member, Brandon Thompson, to play bass, thus bringing the total to five members and solidifying the line-up.
"Fitting into a band with so many family ties wasn't as hard as it seems for me. They all seem like my brothers and I feel as if I've found a home here," said Thompson in an interview with The Phantom Tollbooth in 2008.
With a new-found feeling of completion, Red Letter Bullet soon embarked on their first out-of-town tour in the summer of 2008.
The band booked their own tour which spanned from Florida, through Georgia, Tenessee, Illinois, and Indiana. While in Illinois, Red Letter Bullet spent a week performing at the massive Cornerstone Festival which is held annualy in Bushnell, Illinois. The band spent the week relentlessly promoting and making new friends, and ended up playing five shows in the six day event. The tour lasted three successful weeks and was a valuable learning experience for the band.
With the experience gained from their first summer tour, Red Letter Bullet set out out on their second tour. A two and a half month adventure with The Extreme Tour in the summer of 2009. The tour was extremely successful, and connected Red Letter Bullet with venues, churches and fans all across the eastern coast of the United States.
Road-worn, Red Letter Bullet has only increased its fan-base over time and has gained many cherished friendships along the way. This connection with their supporters is evident throughout their musical expression. Whether the band is hanging out after shows at restaurants with fans or interacting with them through MySpace, the band knows the importance of staying connected. Through these relationships, Red Letter Bullet knows that the real purpose behind their music is fully realized: to share with as many people as possible the love of God, and the joys that He brings in life.
Red Letter Bullet is currently recording their new full-length album that is set to be released in early 2010.
Shortly after, the band plans to hit the road full-time, making music their full-time calling.
