"SOUNDCHECK"

Philadelphia's Red Letter Life is quickly gaining a strong following on the East Coast due to their evolving sound and unique musical dynamic. Bruce Hubbard, Gabe Steriti, and Dave Goodman formed Red Letter Life with one goal in mind: To use their music related college majors and experience from the road to deliver a sound that could gain a following across the country. With their Self Titled EP available now on iTunes, RLL is currently in the studio recording their first full length album which is due out this fall.

Why should you give Red Letter Life a SoundCheck?

With influences ranging from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin, Red Letter Life embodies a sound from years past while offering a diverse flavor among the six tracks on their self titled EP.

Tracks like "Abbey" and "Ashes on the Sun" have a tone that is remincent of great piano rock from the 70's. RLL allows the piano to play a prominent part in their sound on these songs which gives guitarist Gabe Steriti the opportunity to move away from a rhythm role and focus more closely on the well crafted solos. This freedom for the lead guitar gives both of these songs an old school sound on what is otherwise a more modern record.

A faster tempo by drummer Dave Goodman on "Cannibal" and "Everyone Knows It" carries the band into a slightly more modern sound. "Everyone Knows It" is actually the first song you'll hear on the EP and introduces the band with an up beat, 'poppy' track. It's a great introduction for lead singer Bruce Hubbard as the clarity and range of his vocals are immediately evident and carry throughout the rest of the EP.

"PHILLY MUSIC REVIEW: Red Letter Life – self titled ep"

The tracks “Abbey” and “Ashes On The Sun” are perfectly crafted George Harrison-esque Beatles style pop gems with steady 4/4 beat, 3 chord changes, and harmonized vocals that are recorded perfectly to here the pluck of every guitar strum. The lyrics are simple but heartfelt and done with just enough emotion of heartbreak geekery to make them sound Ben Folds style, so nerdy it is cool. - Posted on July 19, 2010 by crackedmusic

Bio

Red Letter Life is a four-piece rock band hailing from the great city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their working-class backgrounds have forged them into tireless performers, playing all over the country both individually, and as a group for many years. Bruce, Gabe, Dave, and Marshall have a deep love of rock music and it's rich history. Their musical influences range from the 50's rock of Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley to The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Genesis, U2, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and many more. Their sound evokes something familiar but is, at the same time, something completely new.

Bruce Hubbard (Vocals/Piano) - Bruce attended Shenandoah University Conservatory and is an accomplished pianist and singer. He has been performing his music for over 15 years to the delight of crowds from New York City to Tampa Bay. A co-founder/conspirator of Red Letter Life, Bruce’s lofty vocals and melodic piano playing style are reminiscent of his greatest influence, The Beatles.

Gabriele Steriti (Guitar/Vocals) - Gabe studied vocal performance, music theory, and jazz guitar while at college in rural Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Starting at the age of 10 acting and singing, he is very much at home under the lights and on the stage. Also a co-founder of Red Letter Life, Gabe's striking leads on guitar and subtle harmonies in his background vocals are inspired by George Harrison, Dave Gilmour and The Edge.

David Goodman (Drums/Percussion) - Dave brings a wealth of experience to the band, having studied drumming while attending Temple University. Dave's musical career has taken him through numerous cities on the east coast and just as many bands and varied genres, allowing him a deep repertoire to pull from. He has a great affinity for early Genesis as well as much of classic rock in general.

Marshall Feaster (Bass) - Marshall is a Wyomissing, PA native who now calls Philadelphia home. Self-taught on the bass and guitar, he has filled both roles for various bands from greater Philadelphia for the last decade. Prior to that, he got kicked out of his freshmen dorm for practicing bass during final exam study days.
