Bio
Ryan Hampton and Cyndi Ramirez are Red Orange Morning (ROM), two singer/songwriters originally from southern New Jersey (and presently based in Brooklyn, NY) who fuse their vocal and instrumental counterparts to create a melodic, bittersweet balance. With Hampton on acoustic guitar and Ramirez on keyboard, the band emotes their superb songwriting stamina through poetically driven lyrics and charming, captivating harmonies. Shadowing each other, their voices are as distinctively pretty and imperfect together as they are standing alone. The band has been compared to artists such as Mojave 3, The Pixies and Mazzy Star. Since their inception in 2004, ROM steadily catches the ears of curious listeners who crave honest music with an edge. The band can be seen performing occasionally with Don Ocava on drums and Charles McFadden on bass.
Red Orange Morning is busily getting their self-titled, self-released debut CD into local music stores. In their short career, ROM has performed at various clubs in Philadelphia and NYC such as: Grape Street Pub, Fergie’s Pub, The Fire, Tokio Ballroom, Acme Underground, Arlene’s Grocery, CBGB’s Gallery, Pete’s Candy Store and Sidewalk Café to name a few. The band performed a live acoustic set on Rowan University’s college radio, 89.7 WGLS-FM and have just been added to University of Pennsylvania’s 88.5 WXPN radio show. ROM is also scheduled to participate in a concert at WXPN’s World Café Live, Sunday March 6th and in NYC for the Happy Ending Reading Series in March 23rd, hosted by NYC writer, Amanda Stern.
