Red Robot

The name Red Robot is derived from lead singer Andy Studer's childhood drawings. In this respect, Red Robot is a metaphor for love and music in the truest essence. The band was created with his brother Ryan during the summer of 2006, as Andy's prolific songwriting needed an outlet. High school friend Andy Miller joined on bass, and over the next few years they began to perform in venues across the Sunset strip such as The Whiskey, The Key Club, and The Mint. Four years later, both brothers are attending the California Institute of the Arts for degrees in composition (guitarist Aaron Moore has graduated with the same degree), and this has expanded their musical palette by tenfold. Along with their heavier, darker themed rock songs, Red Robot has become well known for their acoustics variations with string quartet, or their performances incorporating electronics such as the APC40 and Ableton Live. You wouldn't be surprised to hear African percussion, choirs, or wind ensembles on their recordings either. While they've released many of their own self-recorded songs such as their popular "Stars Ignite", Red Robot has just recently finished their first official EP "Identification". With their first official EP release ever, they look to expand their already dedicated fan base and possibly tour during the upcoming summer.
