Red Rooster, the premier “face-melting power blues" act of the Midwest blues scene for nearly 20 years, is now booking for the rest of 2009 and beyond.
Red Rooster has been a regular fixture at the best blues clubs, music festivals & special events in the Midwest & beyond. They have shared the stage with such artists as Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Shannon Kurfmann, Chris Duarte, Larry McRae, The Kinsey Report, Big Daddy Kinsey, Rare Earth, Cory Stevens, Anthony Gomes, The Guess Who, Gatemouth Brown, Little Charlie & the Nightcats, E.C. Scott, Hubert Sumlin, Jethro Tull, & even the great B.B. King!
Red Rooster’s lead guitarist & vocalist Larry Perkins, a 40-year guitar veteran, recently returned from a 3-month gig at “The Crazy Elephant” in Singapore. Other band members include original bassist Greg McMichael & percussionist Steve McHugh.
Red Rooster's 200 song repertoire covers the entire blues/blues-rock/classic rock spectrum from the roots sounds of Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker & Muddy Waters, the refined styles of Danny Gatton, the house-rockin' sound of Stevie Ray, the hard edged blues of Hendrix, Led Zeppelin & Z.Z. Top, to the classic rock sounds of the Allman Bros., Johnny Winter & The Beatles…not to mention many originals penned by Larry himself. A custom set list is selected "on the fly" during each gig, based on the genre of the venue & mood of the audience, so no two shows are ever alike.
