New York’s, Red Sky Morning are a pretty odd blend of influences ranging from alternative/hard rock to ska/reggae. The vocals on opening track “The River” drew me into this album and reminded me a bit of Perry Farrell and that’s a plus in my book. However, musically there is a nice groove going on throughout this album that is reminiscent of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and at the same time features some guitar plunking ala the Clash (Afterlife, Let It Go). If these comparisons haven’t at least peaked your interest, I am not sure what will. Red Sky Morning is a bit all over the board musically, and that’s good and bad in my opinion. No two songs really sound the same while at the same time you probably aren’t going to dig every song. Overall, I found this to be a pretty fun album chalked full of wonderful harmonies and bouncy tunes for the most part that will capture your interest and keep you listening. (JK)

RED SKY MORNING WAS STARTED OVER 4 YEARS AGO BY JORDAN MANASIA (LEAD VOCALS/RHYTHM GUITAR) AND CHRIS GRUPINSKI (LEAD GUITAR/BACKUP VOCALS) OF STATEN ISLAND. IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, THE INCREDIBLE ADDITIONS OF MICHAEL MURPHY (BASS) AND BRANDON REVILLA (DRUMS) HAVE LAUNCHED THE GROUP TO A LEVEL OF INTENSITY MOST BANDS CAN ONLY HOPE TO ACHIEVE. RED SKY MORNING COVERS A WIDE VARIETY OF GENRES FROM HARD ROCK TO PUNK ROCK TO SKA/REGGAE, AND EVEN A FEW BALLADS, YET THE BAND MANAGES TO TIE IT ALL TOGETHER WITH A VERY CONSISTENT AND UNIQUE SOUND. A LIVE RED SKY MORNING SHOW IS POWERFULLY RAW AND ENERGETIC....NOT TO BE MISSED BY ANYONE WHO LIKES GOOD ROCK MUSIC AND UNFORGETTABLE ANTICS. NOT TO MENTION, GREAT SONGS AND LYRICISM DELIVERED WITH TIGHT, SOULFUL EXECUTION.
