Biography

Red Weather began as a solo act by Jason Sposeto in 2009. His first album hosted a slew of great Bay Area musicians (Lee Bob Watson, Pete Newsom and Dana Gumbiner amongst others) and was recorded at Station to Station, former home to Joanna Newsom, Kings and Queens, and the Moore Brothers. Deciding one is a lonely number, Jason joined forces in 2010 with guitarist Rahi Kumar and Causes cofounder Chris Chan on drums. Bassist Evan Jackson joined the roster shortly after, and Claire Grinton's fiddle and keys were not far behind.

The quintet soon established themselves at venues across the Bay Area, including Kimo's, the Rockit Room, and the Hemlock Tavern, playing with bands like the Blind Willies, Apollo Run, True Mad North, Holger, and Hurricane Roses. Their sound has been described as "folk rock", "spirited melancholy", "sun-dried sweet nothings" and "quite good". They're currently working on a new EP.

A Rabbit As King of the Ghosts

Written By: Red Weather

Walking home from your place
My teeth still stained with wine
It is already dark
But I’ve got nothing but time
Walking home from your place
And the whole town is out
People dancing on street corners
It makes me want to shout

Tonight I can believe that all this Rabbit Light is shining just for me
And tonight I can believe that there is nothing more that I could ever need
Tonight I can believe that I’m a part of all I see
Tonight I can believe that it’s all a part of me
Tonight I can believe, I can believe in everything

I walk down to the water
I stop to skip some stones
They fly into the dark
And after that who really knows
Just like trying to remember
Old friends of mine
Can’t always picture their faces
But their hearts are there just fine

And tonight I can believe the whale’s return to the sea was an act of faith
And tonight I can believe that if this world just won’t stop changing then I’ll change
along with it
Tonight I can believe in second chances
And tonight I can believe in third chances
Tonight I can believe, I can believe in everything

And I know the sun has gotta rise sometime
And I know I gotta be at work on time
But right now, I’ll let the night wash over me,
Won’t let nothing bother me until morning

I walk along the tracks
A train rattles out of sight
I wonder how many train hoppers
Are riding it tonight
And if one travel-worn tramp
Feeling especially free
Gazes at the constellations
And starts singing just like me

Tonight I can believe that all this Rabbit Light is shining just for me
And tonight I can believe that there is nothing more that I could really need
And tonight I can believe the world does magic tricks for free
Tonight I can believe that it’s performing just for me
And tonight I can believe, I can believe in everything

Out Walking After Midnight Blues Again

Written By: Red Weather

Step out onto the curb, boy
Brave the rain and the wind
Find yourself a place that’s warm
A place you haven’t been

Step onto the metro, gal
Ride it to the end

Start up a conversation
With someone you haven’t met

Cause when you’re alone
There’s no hiding from what you’ve done

My sister who was never born
And my brothers both estranged
Will be riding there ahead of me
They’ll guide me on my way

And the streetlamps will shine like ghosts tonight
And the night will part like waves
Take a step for every heartbeat
Take a skip for every pain

Cause when you’re alone
There’s no hiding from what you’ve done
Cause when you’re alone
There’s no hiding from what you’ve become

And on that day of reckoning
Should that day come soon
I reckon that they’ll judge me by
The holes worn in my shoes

It Comes of Itself

Written By: Red Weather

The trees disappear
Behind a curtain of fog
It gives me the feeling
I might float off before long

And I have an inclination
To lie out
In an open field
And disappear too

When the fog dissipates
It would be like
Being born anew

Perched on the hill
Watching the city lights

Is like watching
An underwater city

And we all know the feeling
Of déjà vu
The feeling
This is our second time around

Our lives turn in circles
Just wait long enough
Second chance comes round

And haven’t I seen you
Somewhere before?
Haven’t I seen you
Somewhere before?

Like a ghost
Like a remembered dream
You come back to me
