Bio

or those of you who define life's moments with a favorite song or attach emotions to relatable lyrics, Reed Pittman introduces a sound that offers an instant comfort within its originality. With a mix of familiar influences, Reed's music might remind you thosefavorite CDs you wore out in college. Hiseffortless flair for playing piano and creating songs with memorable rhythms and insightful lyrics will leave a lasting impression, becoming the soundtrack to new memories.

Growing up in Virginia with two older brothers, Reed searched for ways to stand out, so when he began playing piano at age 11, it was evident Reed was not going to be living in the shadows. Reed started performing in middle school, and his continued passion for developing as a musician Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he majored in commercial music and piano.

“I loved Belmont,” Reed said. “It kicked my butt at times, but I really have only good memories from college. I grew a lot as a person and as musician, and I can do a lot of things at the piano I had no clue how to do when I got there in 2003.”

Reed was featured in Belmont University's ASCAP Songwriter's night where he shared the stage with established songwriter Monty Powell. A 2007 Belmont graduate, Reed is now based in Nashville focusing on writing, recording and spreading his music throughout the Southeast.

Reed's music merges inspiration from both classic and contemporary artists with influences from Bruce Hornsby, Ben Folds, Jackson Browne, Coldplay, Counting Crows and early Radiohead.

“One of my major role models is Bruce Hornsby, as both a player and writer,” Reed said. “His playing is phenomenal. I look up to him for creating a sound that many pop/rock players imitate today.”

Reed's combination of talent, passion and personality pulls listeners into his music. He has a story to tell, one with which listeners can relate.

“My songwriting is more of a personal expression,” Reed said. “I definitely think the listener can relate to what I'm saying, but I'm pretty introspective in my writing. Some of my deepest thoughts and feelings are put into my songs, and I think it really ties me to them emotionally. That comes across when I play them. The songs really grab at me, and I feel like others join in on that emotion too.”
