"Reemo, Colours"

Colours is the energetic debut album from Kildare 5 piece Reemo. The band are Stephen Connolly, Paul McGlue, Conleth Dunne, Alan Connolly and Igor Biasini.

ReemoThe album is a lot more polished than their earlier singles; it’s fairly lively and energetic enough to get any indie fan up on the dance floor shuffling. The first track on the album Run sets this tone, bouncy and lively but with a serious undercurrent of anguish which seems ubiquitous throughout the album.

One Day seems a little more experimental, at times the guitars in the background sound like they could be the soundtrack for a Wild West shootout. Circus has a serious R.E.M vibe circa Around The Sun. It’s more melodic and of the tracks on the album sounds like the most likely to be a mainstream hit. It’s powerful and hard not to like.

The lyrics can be at times really difficult. Verging on conversational rather than the usual snappy indie style of song writing. There was a tendency as well for the vocals to take over too much on some tracks such as Vampires and are drowned out on others like Chocolate. With some really memorable melodies on the album it’s frustrating when a song has a really powerful intro only for the music to fade into the background while the vocals take over.

As lively as the album is, the lyrics are actually very dark and quite bitter. The track list makes no attempt to hide the album’s dark side with track names like Holocaust, Vampire and Tsunami. Anthems for the jilted.

Colours will be available in shops from Friday 28th August followed by an online digital release on September 4th.

"Reemo - Recommended"

'This Dublin based four piece won the title of best international band at last years new York international music festival, a competition featuring over 500 acts from all kinds of genres and from all parts of the world. With that accolade under their belt, Reemo's New double A-side single 'Superman / Beautiful you is coming out in the very near future along with a radio only release of 'who you are / circus'. Citing Neil Young, Muse and U2 as influences, Reemo's Tracks make the senses tingle like the melodic guitar pop they listen to, and the loyalty of their fan base reflects their reputation as a hard working, devoted group. As well as this date, Reemo play with The Revs in Drogheda's Solas on Sept 23rd and Dublin’s Voodoo Lounge on Sept 28th. Expect nights of guitar-fuelled vivacity. '

"First Cuts words Jackie Haydon"

' There’s some real urgency to Reemo's five tracker from the getgo, with 'Circus', all crackling guitars and lots of noise setting an early pace. The four lads from inner city Dublin slow it down for the chunky 'beautiful you', which has an American mid rock feel to it and a Neil young touch in the melody. Feather (tell me) raises the tempo again and swings along a treat, with fine guitar rifts, stirring vocal harmonies and the playing tight enough without suffocating. Solid Stuff, worth staying up late for.’ - Hotpress - Vol 29 no 22

Bio

Reemo are the collective musical styles, tastes and thoughts of 5 ordinary guys mashed together to create something unique. Sometimes it's happy and pumping, sometimes it's ugly and harsh but no matter what it is, it is us.

Music for us isn't just a hobby, pass time or job. Its a lifeline. Whether it's making our music or listening to someone else's We need it to survive and function. We like to think you do too. When you listen to our music you are listening to our minds and souls and all the honesty, horror and all round weirdness that comes with it.

Reemo are Steven blasting his voice and his guitar,

Paul on lead guitar doing what he can to make it sing,

Igor tickling the ivories and the guitar plus injecting some much needed Italian style into the band,

Conleth secretly trying to destroy his bass with every note

and Alan beating the hell out of his unfortunate drums.

We hope you like us and what we do, because we like you and what you do.

We are Reemo.

Thanks for listening.
