Renard "Rico" James AKA Reflex the Son Born July 1973, Rico James AKA Reflex is a Christian hip-hop veteran of over ten years experience in urban youth ministry. Reflex’s mission is to relate the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those in and/or influenced by the Hip-Hop culture via recorded music, concert performances, church and community outreaches, and speaking engagements. Reflex is a member of Crossover Community Church in Tampa, Fl led by Pastors Tommy Kyllonen & Tone Bruno. Reflex also volunteer as a youth worker volunteer for over 200 high school & college age young adults. Reflex is the co-host of S.O.U.L. Session (Speaking on Urban Life): a talk show styled forum on current and relevant topics affecting the culture and the church. Reflex is also the host and organizer of PoetSoul: a poetry and spoken word showcase of local and statewide talent that has inspired a similar monthly event venue at Safehouse in Atlanta, GA. Reflex is a member of Flavor Alliance: a team of Christian Hip-hop ministries in the Tampa Bay area. Reflex has hosted/MC’d over 20 Crossover concert, Flavor Fest and several other concert events such as Real Fest 2005. Reflex appears as host and performer on Steel Roots Entertainment Flavor Fest Volume I & II. Reflex has several guest vocal appearances on nationally and independently released CD project’s including Flavor Alliance’s "Flavor Alliance"(2005), Urban D’s "The Immigrant"(2004), and as a member of T.R.I.B.E. "True Revelations". Reflex’s current independent projects either completed or in the works are project with Fla.vor Alliance member Rize "LOVE & Hip-Hop", production project "Holy Soul" featuring (little sister)Lisa Nicole, and a yet to be titled Hip-hop worship compilation project. Reflex is husband to beautiful wife Veronica and loving father to 3 children Mi’racle Faithe, Oceana Marie, & Elijah Shalom. Words from Reflex…. "The focus of my ministry speaks to the heart and soul of those who struggle with the concept that God loves in spite of imperfection, insecurity, or insignificance. It is a testament to Romans 8:38-39 that "…nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God…" It is a message to the world that validates our faith and edification to the church that our hope lies in the reality of God’s love through Christ.
