Refractions

In late 2010, Paul Hannum and JP Goins (formerly of Shot in a Knife Fight), after much talk, decided to start a progressive metal project. After an impressive audition, Cole Duvall was added on second guitar. Jake "Chef" Cullison was decided the drummer after trying out several candidates, and after several strenuous vocal auditions, the quartet chose Cole Pratt for vocals. The progressive metal project started in December 2010 has flourished into Refractions.

Our musical influence range from metal bands like The Contortionist, Animals as Leaders, The Human Abstract, Between the Buried and Me, and Periphery to jazz artists like Kurt Rosenwinkle, Steps Ahead, Alan Holdsworth, and George Benson. It seems like new bands are showing up every day, but they all sound the same. Our goal is to do something different from all the other generic bands that pop up every day.
