"Local Bands to play at Pastime Theatre"

Fans of Hamilton-based rock band Refuse The Fall will be able to catch them in concert at Winfield’s Pastime Theatre on September 30th at 7:00 p.m. along with Left of Main Street of Winfield and Redfine of Jasper.

Influenced by hard rockers such as Silverchair, Sevendust, Pantera, and Foo Fighters, Refuse The Fall is carving out their own space in the internet’s independent music scene.

“Rest Assured,” the first track from their new cd, Barriers to Bridges, was featured as garageband.com’s Track of the Day and was ranked #32 in the play lists. It was also awarded Best Lyrics and Best Beat in Hard Rock in May of this year.

“We’re really proud of Barriers to Bridges,” says vocalist and guitarist Toby Taylor. “It was recorded in Biloxi, Mississippi, at HollyHouse Studios with Clyde Holly.”

Holly, who passed away earlier this month, was well known for his work with such rock greats as 3 Doors Down, 12 Stones, and Atomship. Taylor stated that it was a great honor for the band to work with Holly and they were completely stunned by his sudden death at only 45.

Although the band has only been officially together for a short, the members have known each other and jammed together for years. Chris Hicks on bass, Dusty Rea on guitar and vocals, and Toby Taylor joined forces with Tim Drewery on drums to form Refuse The Fall in November of 2005.

According to their myspace website, the band chose the name Refuse The Fall because it reflects their philosophy: “In one’s life there are two important choices to be made. You either choose to fall or refuse the fall. If you choose to fall, you are giving up everything you have ever dreamed of. If you refuse the fall, you overcome all the obstacles that stand between you and your dreams. This is why we Refuse The Fall.”

Reviewers praise the group’s awesome guitar lines, powerful vocals, and hard-hitting sound along with the positive message of their lyrics.

Right from the start!
This song grabbed me right from the opening riff and just kept going. I love the vocal melody against the insanely awesome guitar line in the verses. Great transitions to a absolutley killer chorus. One of the best vocal performances i've heard since I started reviewing music here - powerful, engaging and spot on - great scream too!. This song rules - if you have a CD send me a message I want one!!!!

Here's a quote from producer Brett Hestla

"Refuse the Fall is more proof that being from a town with no music scene forces bands to try harder. Check out a band who blurs the genre lines by drawing from a deep pool of influences that shine through in a fresh new blend that you are sure to appreciate. Featuring not just one, but two of the south's best voices working together to deliver one of the most unique sounds in recent history. Refuse any substitution...Refuse The Fall."

Fresh out of Brett Hestla's studios in Orlando, Refuse The Fall is certain that they hold in their hands one of the strongest 5 song EPs to come across the independent rock scene. It's driving guitars and layered vocals that provide a rich, heart-pumping rock experience from beginning to end...the same experience that Refuse The Fall has been bringing to their fans across the Southeast as they play to their loyal crowds and make new fans in every city. The energy is undeniable and the message is clear. "Let's Rock!"
