Bio

Reggie Hines, (born in South Bronx, New York) is a diverse and explosive Grammy nominated instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and producer. He is a multi- talented musician that plays several instruments that include the Saxophone, Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar and the Electronic Wind Instrument better known as the EWI.

Reggie Hines comes from a musically entrenched family, Mother and Father Hines both deep-rooted in music and the music industry, introduced Hines to Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, Miles Davis, Johann Sebastian Bach and George Gershwin at an early age. Hines love for music then began to take him on a lifelong journey. Attending a prominent performing arts school in the heart of Manhattan, Hines began making friends with various people of multiple ethnicities as music paved a way for Hines to cross over into diverse cultural experiences.

Reggie set his sights on Berklee’s College of Music in Boston, to pay for school. Hines joined the U.S. Army Band where he underwent some of the most austere musical training to date. Hines embraced the knowledge of global musical studies in Hindu, Arabic, Japanese and many other cultural origins. Music is his mistress. A true lover of the art Salsa, Meringue, Jazz, and Funk, Reggie Hines has spent his entire life becoming the musical alchemist that he is today.

Reggie has played and written for many of the who's who of the Music Industry from Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross (last live shows), Tony Bennett, Roy Ayers, Najee, John Legend to the late legendary songstress Phyllis Hyman for whom he co-wrote and composed “When You Get Right Down To It”, which was nominated for a Grammy for the best R&B song of the year in 1992. That song also earned him an ASCAP award for his skilled musical composition. He has also composed and written for Chaka Khan, The Manhattans, Regina Belle, Dru Hill and Carl Thomas.

Reggie’s musical talents would eventually catch the eyes and ears of Hollywood and he explored in conjunction with Tru Master and the RZA to compose the movie score for “Blade Trinity”. That version of the soundtrack did not make it into the movie; however, Mr. Hines did create the full orchestral score for the film, “Like Butta Baby” as well as soundtracks for the movie, “Colors of Rage”.

In 2002, Reggie was featured in the American comedy film Austin Powers Goldmember soundtrack.

Reggie began commanding the attention of the national audience and has performed on the David Letterman Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tom Joyner’s Sky Show and Cruise. In 2002 Reggie embarked on a journey to the other side of the world to perform in Japan at the renowned Blue Note and returned there again for the Harlem Nights Tour in 2009. Recent projects include working with comedians Tommy Davidson, J Anthony Brown, Craig Robinson (The Office) on the Last Comic Standing Season 7 Finale and the 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Awards. Reggie is currently a member of the Craig Robinson Nasty Delicious Band.

The “Do You See What I See”, CD debuted in 2006 made an outstanding impact on the Jazz community only to be followed by his latest and greatest work in 2010 with the release of the chart topping CD “Live Your Life”, the return to his musical roots, infusing multiple music genres with Jazz.
