"Reggie Young Is Leading The Scene"

Reggie Young is outstanding on tracks 1 through 13. Steppin' Up is a must have! - Review, Jazz Times

"Reggie Young's Dynamic Rhythm Released"

Here, though, Young uses his instruments not just to underpin the dynamic rhythm but also to lead (at least in parts) the melodies thereby enabling him to cover more generic bases – soul, funk, jazz, smooth jazz and rock. Outstanding display of music! - Bill Buckley, Soul Jazz and Funk

"Reggie Young's Restlessness"

All-in-all, Steppin’ Up is a music ‘treat.’ There are no misses and even on the cooler cuts, Young continues to captivate through his gargantuan talents as a bassist and musician. - Brent Faulkner, The Urban Music Scene

"Reggie Young New CD Steppin' Up"

Reggie Young offers a diverse field of moods on his latest release, Steppin’ Up. There are well-played, well-written, well-phrased, and well-conceived tunes on this CD, - Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride

Bio

Reggie Young's music is known to keep audiences dancing to the urban fusion grooves held down by his dynamic 7 piece funky orchestra. Here is where you'll find strong influences of Marcus Miller, Trombone Shorty & Bootsy Collins wrapped up in one. Never before has there been a band led by a bassist with such strong melodies and rocking grooves mixing New York and New Orleans to bring you tunes like "Gumbo", "Funk Avenue" and the politically strong "World Peace".
Reggie comes from a musical background beginning in a small church located in a small town called Hempstead. By watching a visiting church perform he found his love for the bass guitar and the rest is history. Reggie soon began playing for everyone in gospel and became the most sought after session bassist in gospel music. But that wasn't enough for Young. He started receiving calls from all genres of music including P Diddy, Faith Evans, Kelly Price, Jade and many more. Rising rapidly in music Reggie was developing an underground following that caused him to record his first solo cd in 1997 Among Friends and so it begins.
