"Reginald Torian"

I’ve been a big fan of Reggie Torian ever since he first sang with the Impressions 40 years ago - even though that doesn’t seem possible. His high tenor vocals will always remain among my favorite sounds. ‘Woke From A Dream’ his debut solo single is a fresh addition to his fine musical portfolio, it shows a positive change of direction. It’s a great song that grows on you more with every play, beautifully produced and recorded. And his superb vocal at the centre is soulful perfection. Though I sincerely hope that he remains with the Impressions, who for me are the best group on planet earth, I wish him every success with his new venture and look forward to hearing more quality songs from him in the near future.

"Reginald Torian"

I have had the pleasure of listening to a new recording by
Reginald Torian, the Lead Singer of the “Impressions”. The recording is entitled “Woke From A Dream”, and I love it. The following are some of the lyrics from the song: “I’ve been praying that the Lord would rescue me. I’ve been playing this lonely game too long; been wishing for those arms where I belong; I’ve been wondering who has heard my plea; I’ve been thinking there was no one there for me; it wasn’t that long ago; I woke from a dream, and when I reached over you were lying there next to me”.

For me the lyrics are a powerful reminder that it’s time to “wake up”, and when we “wake up”, we will discover that that the loved ones and things we are dreaming about are already here –right next to us- waiting with open arms for our discovery, and whatever we’ve missed or overlooked, we have another chance to “wake up” and “make up”.

Turn up the bass, tune into Reginald Torian
If you liked Curtis Mayfield, you’ll love Reginald Torian, whose soulful stylings evoke the funk-filled, politically alive sounds marked by Mayfield’s blaxploitation-era oeuvre. In fact, Torian notably drew the largest crowd of Chicago State University’s summer music series, Jazz in the Grazz:
CHICAGO residents flocked to the “Ravinia-on-the-South Side” outdoor music festival July 6, 2011, to move to Torian’s interpretation of the classic Mayfield songbook.

"Reginald Torian!"

Reginald took this gift of a song and gave an interpretation that allows the listener to visualize the rain and clouds coming down from heavens in an attempt to obscure his tears. His passionate interpretation of this song seems to conjure up every emotion known, and yet leave them wanting, wondering and hoping for more. I cannot think of any other way of encapsuling the array of mistigue, desire and passion he brings to this song. -----Chris Childress, Song writer
