Regina McMullen

Regina McMullen is a significant talent who will appeal to all fans of quality songs with a quality voice and to all lovers of great songs sung with clarity, warmth, style, emotion and taste.

Irish singer-songwriter Regina McMullen has reemerged with a new demo recording of her own material. Regina, who now lives in Potomac Falls, Virginia with her husband and two children, draws on her own life experiences to pen such thought provoking songs as 'Kinner's Lane", a vivid and touching recollection of life at home in her native Monaghan, and 'In My LIfe', a melodic tribute to the essential role that music has played in her life.

Prior to this, Regina's debut single 'Shadowy', written by Jimmy MacCarthy, was produced by renowned Irish producer, Declan Sinnott, who has garnered much acclaim for his work with Christy Moore and Mary Black among other top Irish acts.

She has also done some demo work with producers John Sheehan from The Dubliners and respected Nashville stalwart Phillip Donnelly, who has worked with Nanci Griffith and John Prine. Songwriters of the caliber of the aforementioned MacCarthy, Mick Hanley and Charlie McGettigan have not only given her material to record but enthusiastically contributed their vocals to her demo recordings of their songs!.

This diminutive singer is also an accomplished fiddle player and enjoyed playing with the Kathy Durkin Band for three years before she moved into a more contemporary style for which she is much more suited.

The versatile singer-songwriter lists Sarah McLachlan, Juliet Turner, Alison Krauss and Shane MacGowan as her main musical influences.

Kinner's Lane

Written By: Regina McMullen

I dream of walking round Kinner’s lane
To the west the hill of Castleshane
A steeple spears the horizon line
There’s Drumgolat’s relic of ancient time

A damp December dusk unfolds
Follow the moon on silver roads
Through the dark there’s golden gleams of light
Down Listinney hill this winter’s night

For me it means security
A place where innocence can be
Where as a child I was free to roam
Maybe someday we’ll move back home

Time has passed, it keeps moving on
Some people I held dear now gone
Others left to live alone
We pass the quarry on our way back home

We banish the cold by the fire blessed
By the Sacred Heart and his holiness
The floor’s all scattered with books and toys
Two innocent faces, Grandparents’ joy

There’s so many people I want to see
Neighbours, friends and family
Catching up and winding down
It’s a full time job just doing the rounds

Familiar faces in Ballybay
Where till early hours we’d sing and play
In Derrynoose around Tossey’s fire
Songs and stories, a chorus choir

In My Life

Written By: Regina McMullen

Light in My Life

Chorus: You’re a light in my life, you give me hope.
When I’m drowning in doubt, you are my rope.
You’ve answered many prayers I’ve said
Angel flying overhead.

When trials in life seem too hard to bear,
I turn to you, you are always there.
Clear the haze and help me see beyond
disappointments that can bring me down.

You know I made mistakes along the way,
And sometimes there was a price to pay.
Teach me this time to walk before I run
And gain momentum as I go along.

Sometimes I gave up on you in the past,
Despaired of having what it takes to last.
You stayed beside me all along the way
To remind me there’s a brighter day.
