Reid Burton began playing piano at age 3 and had mastered Bach’s Menuet before he was speaking in complete sentences. Early melodic influences include The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Phish, and Baroque composers. At 8, Reid picked up the electric guitar and began to lay the foundation for his current musical career. Playing solo or backed by the Reid Burton Band, he places vast emphasis on great songwriting, cool grooves, and colorful textures. His voice is often compared to Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and Brad Nowell. Reid and his acoustic/electric outfit are in a constant state of movement, touring in such locations as Tampa, Chicago, West Palm Beach, Atlanta, Raleigh, Austin, Memphis, and Dayton. When asked about his motivation as a singer/songwriter, he replies, “I want to bring my sound to the people. I let out my problems through my music, so if they can connect to the songs, they can let their problems out through me. It’s a poetic release; when a song comes out, it’s like a new part of me is liberated and I feel good about myself.” However, Reid’s altruistic connection to the public is not just fulfilled through his music. The recently established Reid Burton Foundation centers on donating funds to help families, with a focus on military families who’ve lost members to the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bio
Reid began playing piano at age 3 and was playing Bach's Menuet before he was speaking in complete sentences. He picked up an electric guitar at age 8 and never looked back. His unique fingerstyle technique provides a strong melodic backbone to his solo playing and a great blended texture when playing with the full band.
