Bio

Reid Willis has been an avid fan of music his entire life. At the age of 6, he began taking Suzuki style classical piano lessons. He started composing little songs on the piano that were influenced by the pieces he was learning in his lessons, and would clumsily jot them down in a little staff paper notebook his parents had given him.

Later in life, Reid became increasingly interested in electronic music, and in high school discovered artists such as Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Squarepusher, who are influences on his music today. Although not well equipped at the time to create music of the same quality as these artists, Reid started experimenting with electronic music, while retaining his classical backbone throughout. He also became interested in the minimalist style of music, and was influenced by the harmonic styles of composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Reid created many CDs on his own that he gave out to family and close friends. On each release he became increasingly proficient in combining his wide range of influences to create his own sound.

Reid has studied composition at LSU and recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music. During his schooling, he has composed pieces for strings, piano, brass, woodwinds, and voice, and has gotten various pieces performed. He plans to continue studying music at LSU and receive his Master's. Reid aims to make a career of scoring movies and is still trying to get picked up by a record label. His latest, and first professionally produced, CD "The 40 Year Hibernation" is available now at cdbaby.com
