Bio

Known for his ability to bring poetic justice to all his rhymes, Release draws inspiration from all genres of music (Hip Hop, Folk, Rock,), classic poets (Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt) and everyday experiences. Release showcases his raw talents through his driven mix of conscious hip hop infused with elements of the Blues.

If I didn’t release what I could, I don’t know where I would be. Writing is what saved me—that is my release.

For Release, music has always been something that has allowed him to deal with the challenges of life. “Depression and anxiety is a daily struggle for me and I’ve learnt to not shut myself out from the world but instead, go about my daily plans and filter that pain through music.”

Introduced to the music of the 60s and 70’s by his parents who were big music fans, helped provide comfort for Release who say’s he always knew music would be in his future. By his early teens, hip hop made a notable impact. Artists like Busta Rhymes, DMX, 2 Pac, Notorious B.I.G, and Nas, spoke to him on a new level and pushed him to write lyrics of his own. Release picked up the harmonica during a dark time in his life, learning to play on his own it was the one thing that allowed him to express himself when he couldn’t put his thoughts on paper. The harmonica has added another element to his music and himself as an artist. As another form of expression, playing the harmonica has not only inspired Release but now separates his raw hip hop sound from the auto-tuned rappers of today.

Release is a graduate of the Entertainment Business Management course at Trebas Institute and soon after graduating Release started his own record label, Harmonic Soul Records and has been in the studio working with producer Frank Morell aka Tekniq of Fortune Tellahs, recording tracks for his debut LP “Lost & Not Found". Recently he has put together a five track EP titled "What Today's About". Full of passion and a master of his craft, when he is not in the studio recording he is on stage showcasing his skills, leaving audiences something to remember.

Stay tuned for new music, tour dates and much more from the captain himself. In the meantime, keep on ridin’…
